Hide a known banner for one screenshot
First identify a stable selector for the consent banner on the page under test. Then pass CSS that hides only that element to the screenshot call:

});Replace #cookie-banner with the selector you confirmed in the page’s DOM; it is an example, not a universal cookie-banner selector. The screenshot stylesheet is applied at capture time, so this is useful for a clean visual reference without making a persistent change to the page. Keep the selector specific
Prefer an application-owned selector or a selector verified for the particular site. A broad rule based on words such as cookie could hide unrelated content. Use display: none !important when you want the matched banner removed from the screenshot. Review the resulting image if removing it changes the layout or makes the baseline unsuitable.

For consent tests, dismiss the banner normally
If the purpose is to test consent behavior, do not hide the interface with screenshot CSS. Wait for the predictable overlay, interact with the appropriate accept, reject, or settings control, and assert the resulting state your application is expected to produce. Explicit wait-and-dismiss handling is preferable for predictable overlays; a locator handler is not a substitute for testing the consent flow. Playwright overlay guidance
A screenshot-only hide is a visual adjustment. It does not establish that the site stored a choice, updated consent state, or behaved as a visitor would experience it.

Check your Playwright version
The page screenshot style option and screenshot assertion stylePath are documented as added in Playwright v1.41. If either option is unavailable in your project, check the installed Playwright version and update it to v1.41 or later before relying on these APIs. Page API · PageAssertions API

Troubleshooting
- The banner still appears: the selector may not match the rendered element, or the banner may be inside a frame or shadow root with a different structure. Inspect the live page and use a selector that targets the actual banner.
- Other page content disappears: narrow the selector. A generic selector matching every element whose class or text mentions cookies can catch unrelated elements.
- The screenshot has a large gap where the banner was: the banner may have affected layout. Check the rendered result and decide whether removing it is appropriate for the baseline; hiding an overlay can change what the screenshot represents.
- You need the page behind the banner covered, not exposed: use screenshot masking. A mask paints over the matched area rather than removing the element.
- The test must prove a choice was saved: remove the screenshot-only CSS and test the real consent controls and resulting state.
