The main implementation risks are missing required scopes or site-admin approval, assuming the event handler runs as the person who deleted the page, and expecting separate events for every descendant removed in a cascade.
Which Forge event signals a deleted page?
Use the event identifier avi:confluence:deleted:page. Atlassian lists it in its Confluence Forge events reference, alongside page and live-doc lifecycle events. The event reference was last updated on 2026-04-01.

What permissions and payload access are required?
For page, live-doc, and blog-post events, the documented OAuth scope is read:confluence-content.summary. Trashed and deleted events additionally require write:confluence-content; Atlassian notes that this additional requirement may be removed in the future. The site’s administrator must also grant the app permission to access data included in event payloads. Configure the scopes in the app and verify that the site admin has granted payload access before relying on the event.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
What identity does the event handler use?
Forge event code runs as the app system user, not as the interactive user who initiated the deletion. A follow-up request to fetch the page or related resources can fail if the app system user does not have permission to access them, even when the initiating user did. Atlassian explains this identity constraint in its Forge Events guide, last updated 2026-05-22. Check the app identity’s access and handle failed lookups rather than assuming the event actor’s permissions carry over.
Will a cascade produce an event for every deleted page?
No. Atlassian says it emits delete events for top-level entities in cascading deletion cases. If a space is deleted, its child pages and other descendants do not each produce a separate delete event. The same applies when a page or blog post is deleted along with descendants such as comments, attachments, or custom content. An individually deleted content-tree entity can receive its own delete event; descendants removed as part of a parent deletion do not.

If the app needs to maintain or clean up descendant relationships, persist the associations while the content is still available. On a parent deletion event, perform descendant cleanup from the stored relationships instead of waiting for one notification per child.

How does REST API page deletion differ from the event?
The Forge event tells the app about a deletion; the REST API controls how a page is deleted. The Confluence Cloud REST API v2 page deletion operation accepts a page ID. Its documented behavior depends on the page’s state and query parameters:

| Operation | Effect | Permission detail |
|---|---|---|
| Delete a non-draft page without a special parameter | Moves the page to trash, where it may be restored. | Requires permission to view the page and space, and permission to delete pages in the space. |
Delete a draft with draft=true |
Discards the draft permanently rather than moving it to trash. | Requires the documented page and space access and page-deletion permission. |
Purge a trashed page with purge=true |
Permanently deletes the trashed page. | Requires the space’s manage/content permission. |
The operation documents OAuth 2.0 scope delete:page:confluence and returns HTTP 204 No Content on success. See Atlassian’s Confluence Cloud REST API v2 Page API. Do not infer event behavior from the API’s trash or purge semantics: deletion state and which notifications a cascade emits are separate concerns.
Implementation sequence
- Register a Forge event trigger for
avi:confluence:deleted:pageand configureread:confluence-content.summaryplus the documentedwrite:confluence-contentrequirement for deleted events. - Have the site administrator grant the app access to the payload data.
- In the handler, inspect the event type and content identifiers, and allow for actor and other optional fields to be absent.
- Use the app system user’s permissions when planning any follow-up fetch; handle cases where it cannot read the resource.
- For parent or space deletion, clean up descendants using relationships saved before deletion rather than expecting separate descendant events.
- When issuing a REST deletion, choose default trashing, draft deletion, or purge according to the page’s state and required reversibility, and meet the corresponding permissions.
Atlassian’s cited references establish the event name, scopes, payload facts, identity model, cascade behavior, and REST deletion semantics. They do not provide a complete event-specific manifest example or guarantee event delivery timing or retry semantics; check the current Forge module reference for deployment-specific requirements.
