How to Grow a 24/7 YouTube Lofi Stream Without Copyright Problems

Use music with rights that cover continuous YouTube livestreaming, then give listeners a distinctive station to return to with intentional programming, original visuals, and community features.

You can run a 24/7 YouTube lofi stream without using music you lack rights to by using your own properly cleared compositions, commissioning music under a written agreement, or choosing tracks whose terms expressly cover continuous livestreaming. Then build a station listeners have a reason to revisit: a specific sound and use case, an original visual identity, intentional sequencing, and active community programming. Music permission and YouTube monetization eligibility are separate issues, and neither guarantees audience growth.

Choose music you are actually allowed to stream

Before assembling a playlist, decide where every track comes from and what rights you have. A credit line, a “royalty-free” label, or permission to use a song in an ordinary uploaded video does not establish that you can loop it in a continuous YouTube livestream or monetize that broadcast.

YouTube Audio Library

YouTube Help states: “Music and sound effects from the YouTube Audio Library are copyright-safe.” Its guidance says Audio Library music and sound effects will not be claimed by a rights holder through Content ID. The library is in YouTube Studio; you can search by title, artist, or keyword and filter by genre, mood, duration, and attribution. YouTube says new releases are added twice a month.

Check the listing for every track. For a Creative Commons track, copy the supplied attribution text into the video description. Tracks marked as not requiring attribution have a different listed requirement. The Audio Library assurance is specific to that library; YouTube says it does not take responsibility for issues arising from “royalty-free” music from other channels or libraries.

Your own compositions or commissioned music

Original music gives you more control, but “I made the beat” is not enough if it contains samples, loops, or other material with terms that restrict livestreaming or monetization. Keep project files and verify the rights for every component. If you commission a producer, put the permitted uses in writing rather than relying on a casual message or an invoice that only identifies the purchase.

Label, artist, or external-library tracks

Get written permission from the actual rights holder. Confirm that the grant covers continuous livestreaming, looping, monetization, territory, and recording or archived playback. Ask whether your channel must be allowlisted in Content ID and how to resolve a claim if one appears despite the license. Retain the signed agreement, invoice, license version, track IDs, and download dates. Terms differ by provider, so check each track rather than assuming that a catalog-wide “royalty-free” label answers these questions.

Compare music sources before building the station

Music source What to verify Practical trade-off
YouTube Audio Library Check the individual track’s listed attribution rule. YouTube describes Audio Library music and sound effects as copyright-safe on YouTube and says they will not be claimed by a rights holder through Content ID. A clear free starting point within YouTube’s stated assurance; the library’s catalog and listed attribution terms govern each track.
Your own compositions Confirm you control the composition and every sample, loop, and other included element for the intended livestream and monetization. More creative control, with responsibility for clearing every component.
Commissioned or external-catalog tracks Read the written grant for livestreaming, loops, monetization, territory, archives, term, cancellation effects, and Content ID handling. May provide a distinctive catalog, but the actual agreement—not the sales label—determines what you can do.

Keep rights permission separate from monetization eligibility

YouTube’s channel monetization policies apply to live streams as well as Shorts and long-form videos. The policy expects original, authentic material and identifies generic, repetitive, mass-produced, or reused content as potential problems. It also says reused-content review is separate from copyright enforcement: “This policy applies even if you have permission from the original creator.” In other words, a license can address music rights without establishing that your channel meets monetization requirements.

YouTube says reviewers may consider a channel’s theme, most-viewed and newest videos, share of watch time, metadata, and About section. Its policy page records a July 15, 2025 update clarifying that repetitive or mass-produced material is addressed as “inauthentic content”; the page says the reused-content policy did not change in that update. Check your channel’s current Studio Earn interface for eligibility and feature availability rather than assuming a particular status.

Creator Music is not a substitute for livestream rights. YouTube’s Creator Music usage guidance says tracks available for licensing or revenue sharing can be used in long-form videos, not live streams.

Give listeners a reason to return

A 24/7 stream is a format, not a growth strategy. Make the station promise specific enough that a listener can tell whether it is for them. For example, choose warm jazz-hop for late-night coding or rain-backed beats for exam sessions rather than presenting an undifferentiated “lofi radio” feed. Keep the music selection, title, artwork, description, and chat programming aligned with that promise.

Build a recognizable station identity

  • Create an original visual world and recognizable artwork. Do not copy another channel’s character, branding, or distinctive presentation.
  • Use a clear title and description that identify the format and intended listening use. Explain who the station is for, identify artists and tracks, and state whether the music is owned or licensed.
  • Credit musicians so listeners can find them, while remembering that credit is not permission to use a track.

Program the listening experience

  • Sequence tracks deliberately, with a consistent energy curve that suits the station’s stated use.
  • Listen for abrupt transitions, dead air, loudness jumps, and a noticeable end-to-start seam. A continuous stream can still feel poorly assembled if the loop breaks the mood.
  • Give the broadcast a community dimension with recurring chat prompts, mood requests, featured producers, or announcements of new mixes. These are ways to make the station more distinctive, not guaranteed growth tactics.

Use more than the permanent live page for discovery

Publish shorter uploads or discovery clips that introduce the sound and visual identity to people who have not found the live stream. Keep those pieces consistent with the station and clear the music rights for each format; a track license for one use does not automatically cover another. There are no substantiated growth statistics or schedules here that would justify promising a subscriber count, watch-time result, or monetization date.

Prepare the stream and its rights records before launch

  1. Make a track-by-track rights record. Record the track name, artist, source, license or agreement, applicable attribution, permitted uses, territory, term, and any Content ID instructions. Keep original project files for self-produced music and verify included samples and loops.
  2. Assemble the audio and visual package. Use only cleared tracks, prepare an original visual, and write a title and description that accurately describe the station. Add required Audio Library attribution to the description.
  3. Choose how to keep the broadcast running. A locally hosted encoder means leaving an encoder machine running. A cloud streaming service can remove the need to keep a personal computer on, but it does not grant music rights or guarantee channel growth.
  4. Rehearse before making the stream public. Run an unlisted technical rehearsal. Check transitions and the loop seam, listen on mobile and desktop, inspect stream health, and keep the rights records accessible in case a claim or question arises.
  5. Review the channel as a whole. Make sure the station has a clear creative identity and enough original authorship to be more than a generic, repetitive feed. Check current monetization eligibility in Studio rather than treating music clearance as approval.

Or let it run in the cloud

If you would rather not leave an encoder computer running, StreamNeo keeps an uploaded-video YouTube stream running from the cloud. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It plays uploaded videos rather than broadcasting a camera, and it does not provide music rights: clear every track independently before uploading.
