You can prepare to play Astonishia Story on Nintendo Switch 2, but it is not available yet: Nintendo’s US store lists the Nintendo Switch game for February 11, 2027. Nintendo currently marks it “Supported – Game behavior is consistent with Nintendo Switch,” rather than listing a separate Switch 2 Edition. Here’s what to check before launch—and what new players can expect without guessing at unreleased controls or tutorial steps.
Check the release and Switch 2 compatibility
Nintendo’s US store lists Astonishia Story as a digital Nintendo Switch title with a release date of February 11, 2027. Its compatibility note says, “Supported – Game behavior is consistent with Nintendo Switch.” That means Nintendo lists the Switch game as supported on Switch 2; it does not identify a separate Switch 2 Edition. Because store details can change, check Nintendo’s product page near launch for the current date and compatibility status.

Choose an edition and prepare your console
- Decide which format you want. Nintendo’s US listing is for a digital purchase. NIS America separately offers a Special Edition with a Nintendo Switch platform option. Compare the live listings for price and included extras before buying; the available information does not establish Amazon stock or a physical standard edition. See NIS America’s Special Edition listing.
- Leave room for the download. Nintendo lists an estimated file size of 2.4 GB for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. It is an estimate, so check the final size when the game is available.
- Pick how you want to play. Nintendo lists TV, tabletop, and handheld modes. The listing specifies one player on one system.
- Know what the cloud-save entry means. Nintendo lists Save Data Cloud support and says a Nintendo Switch Online membership is required for cloud backup. The listing does not say that membership is required to play the single-player game.
What to expect from the RPG
NIS America describes Astonishia Story as an updated version of a classic Korean RPG. You follow Lloyd von Reuental as he seeks a stolen relic and tries to stop the Elven Queen from awakening an ancient god. The announced play systems include exploration, grid-based battles, and recruiting allies or mercenaries. Nintendo’s listing attributes its description to the publisher; the Steam listing also carries publisher-provided game information.
Begin with exploration and learn combat as you go
NIS America’s practical advice for recruitment is to talk to everyone: optional mercenaries may be willing to join the party. The publisher also describes characters as having distinct skill sets, so party composition is part of the game’s approach. In battles, the confirmed systems include moving units across a grid, using abilities, and positioning characters.
#1 Best Overall

- Grid-Based Gambits: Every battle is another battlefield in Astonishia Story! Maneuver your units across the grid, fire off powerful abilities, and keep track of your positioning to ensure success.
- Round Up and Recruit: A plethora of optional mercenaries are waiting to join you on your quest. Be sure to talk to everyone, as you never know who's willing to stand by your side in battle. Each character has their own unique skill set, letting you adapt your party for every situation!
- Special Edition includes: Astonishia Story GAME, Astonishia Story Digital Soundtrack (download code), Astonishing Sights Card Set, Storied Sun Acrylic Keychain
Those are descriptions of the announced systems, not a tested optimal strategy. The game has not reached its listed release date, and the available official material does not establish the Switch button mapping, tutorial sequence, save prompts, difficulty options, or specific first-battle tactics. At launch, follow the game’s tutorial and on-screen control prompts rather than relying on an advance guide that guesses at them.
