Which vehicle should a beginner choose?
Begin with the landspeeder. Lucasfilm describes it as an ideal starter because it handles steadily, drifts through corners well, and is comparatively durable. Its trade-off is lower top speed, so use its Ramjet boost to regain time when needed rather than expecting the vehicle to win through raw velocity. How should you approach the campaign?
The campaign is run-based: you choose a route through events, and too many crashes can end a tour. When a run ends, start another rather than assuming all progress is lost. Lucasfilm says certain perks and unlocks earned on earlier attempts carry over; it does not say that every temporary part or resource persists. The launch announcement describes the campaign and carry-over.

Route and vehicle decisions matter alongside driving. In the official reveal interview, Matt Webster said the team drew inspiration from run-based games and wanted meaningful choices about the vehicle, upgrades, and events that shape a pilot’s path. That makes a measured run more useful than treating every event as a must-win sprint: weigh the route and its risks against the craft and parts you have chosen.
When and how do you fit upgrades?
Use Hibi’s workshop in the planet’s paddock between events. Parts can be earned during runs or bought from Hibi, and they provide stat boosts or abilities. There is no source-backed universal best build, so choose parts that complement both your vehicle’s trade-offs and the way you handle it—for example, avoid building around a control-heavy technique until you are comfortable using it. Which mode and settings are useful for practice?
The launch announcement lists Campaign, Scenario, and Arcade. Campaign is the route-based progression described above; Arcade lets you jump into podracing. Pick the mode that matches your immediate goal, but do not assume that progression or unlock rules are shared across modes unless the game confirms that in play.
The official PS5 product page lists control reminders, difficulty adjustment, individually configurable assists, some controller settings, and offline pausing. It also lists visual comfort options that remove camera movements and effects and can show a central screen dot. These are options to make practice more manageable, not requirements. The cited settings are confirmed for the PS5 listing; their availability on Xbox and PC is not established here.

How should you adapt to different courses?
Do not assume a setup or driving rhythm will feel identical everywhere. The launch announcement identifies Crait, Jakku, Sentinel I, Lantaana, Derven Acos, Ando Prime, and Tatooine as locations; it describes Derven Acos as an arena that combines planetary conditions into a gauntlet. Pay attention to the conditions of each course and adjust how aggressively you use boosts, brakes, and riskier abilities.
For exact timing and route choices, rely on in-game tutorials and control reminders. Official launch-era materials describe vehicle characteristics and broad campaign decisions, but do not establish button-by-button controls or optimal route strategies. Handling, progression, and settings may also change in later patches, so treat these recommendations as launch-era guidance rather than a guarantee about every future version.
