You generally can’t use a no-code scraper to collect Zillow listings and assume the collection is permitted. Zillow’s Terms of Use, updated October 28, 2025, prohibit automated queries intended to obtain information from its services, including scraping and crawlers. The right alternative depends on what you need: Zillow offers public CSV downloads for aggregate housing-market trends, while property-level data and API access are subject to separate approval and restrictions.
First, identify the data you need
“Real estate data from Zillow” can mean different things. Choose the closest match before picking a tool or download:
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
- Individual properties or active listings: records about specific homes, potentially including listing details or property attributes.
- Market trends: aggregate measures such as home values, rents, inventory, or sale prices for a ZIP code, city, or broader area.
- Demographic context: population, household, or other statistical data to interpret a housing market.
These are not interchangeable. Zillow’s public market-data downloads are not a bulk export of its current property listings.
Why a no-code scraper is not a safe shortcut
A browser extension or scraping service may hide the technical steps, but it does not change the rules that apply to automated access. Zillow’s Terms of Use prohibit automated queries intended to obtain information from its services, expressly naming screen and database scraping, spiders, robots, crawlers, CAPTCHA bypass, and other automated activity for that purpose. They also prohibit bypassing measures Zillow uses to restrict access.
#1 Best Overall
This describes Zillow’s published terms; it is not a determination of every possible legal question. Terms can change, so check the current terms before using Zillow data. Do not treat CAPTCHA workarounds, rotating proxies, browser automation, or a no-code interface as authorization.
Get aggregate housing trends from Zillow’s public CSVs
If your goal is to analyze a market over time—not to export individual listings—Zillow Economic Research provides downloadable market metrics. Examples include home values, rents, inventory, and sale prices. Zillow describes these public downloads as free to use with attribution; series update weekly or monthly, depending on the metric, and geographic and historical coverage varies.
Rank #2
- Open Zillow Economic Research’s market-data section. Choose the metric that matches your question, such as rents or inventory.
- Select an available geography and series. Options vary by metric; coverage may include neighborhood, ZIP code, city, county, metro, state, or national levels. Zillow’s data catalog says many series extend back to the late 1990s, but do not assume every series covers every geography or date.
- Download the CSV. Open it in a spreadsheet or import it into your analysis tool. Check the file’s labels and definitions before comparing locations or time periods.
- Record provenance and attribution. Keep the retrieval date, selected geography, metric definition, and Zillow attribution with your analysis. Follow the stated use and licensing terms.
This route supplies aggregate market indicators, not a spreadsheet of all active homes on Zillow.
For property-level data, check approval and terms first
Zillow describes its API as a service for preapproved licensees to retrieve certain residential real-estate and mortgage data. It is not described as open, anonymous bulk access. Approval, API component availability, and the approved site or use matter; an old tutorial or third-party no-code tool does not establish that your intended collection is authorized.
Rank #3
The cited Zillow API terms include restrictions on display, retention, and bulk access. They state that users may not provide bulk access to Zillow data or retain copies, and limit Home Valuations API and Property Details API calls to 1,000 per day unless Zillow approves a higher limit. The Property Details API terms separately specify no more than 20 individual properties at a time per user. These are limits for the named APIs and terms—not a universal limit for every Zillow product or API.
- Check whether the relevant API component is currently available to you and whether your site and intended use can be approved.
- Read the applicable terms for permitted display, retention, redistribution, bulk access, and call limits.
- Ask Zillow or the relevant license provider directly if you need an individual-listing export and cannot establish that your planned workflow is allowed.
The official sources do not establish a self-service no-code export of individual Zillow listings that is permitted for any reader’s intended use. Do not infer that such an option exists.
Research and public-data alternatives
| Route | Useful for | Access and limits |
|---|---|---|
| Zillow Economic Research CSV downloads | Aggregate values, rents, inventory, and sale-price trends | Public downloads; attribution required. Update cadence, geography, and historical coverage vary by series. Not a bulk listing export. |
| Zillow API | Approved integrations needing certain Zillow data | Preapproval and approved components and uses apply. Terms restrict display, retention, bulk access, and calls. |
| ZTRAX and Bridge | Eligible research or access to selected market metrics | Zillow describes ZTRAX for U.S. academic, nonprofit, and government researchers. Bridge provides selected metrics, regions, and time periods. Confirm eligibility and current availability. |
| U.S. Census API | Demographic and broad housing context | Provides public statistical datasets such as ACS, with variable and geography selection. It does not provide Zillow listings or Zillow estimates. |
For a research project, check ZTRAX eligibility and Bridge access directly rather than treating either as an unrestricted listing-export service. For demographic context, the Census API can complement housing analysis, but its statistics are not a substitute for Zillow property records.

- Write down the source and retrieval date.
- Record the geography and metric or variable definitions; similar labels do not guarantee identical measures.
- Preserve required attribution and follow the source’s rules for storage, display, and redistribution.
- Keep aggregate market metrics separate from individual property records and from demographic statistics.

ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server, not a Zillow listing-data export or a way around Zillow’s restrictions. Use it only when you need an authorized screenshot of a page—not to collect listing records. One GET request returns a screenshot or PDF; the example below saves a screenshot of Zillow’s homepage. It does not extract property data. See the ScreenshotNeo documentation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I export Zillow listings directly to Excel or Google Sheets?
The official sources described here do not establish a generally available, permitted self-service export of individual Zillow listings. Ask Zillow or the relevant license provider about your specific use before proceeding.
Can Census data replace Zillow listing data?
No. Census datasets can provide demographic and broad housing context, but they do not contain Zillow listing records or Zillow estimates.
