Choose a page-change monitor
Visualping and Distill both document selected-area monitoring and email notifications. They monitor changes to a webpage; they are not guarantees of a price, stock status, or compatibility with every retailer.

Pick a cloud monitor if you need checks to run while your computer is off. A local monitor may depend on a browser or device remaining available; Visualping specifically says its local monitoring requires Chrome to stay open.

Set up a price-change email alert
- Add the product page. Copy the retailer’s product URL into a new monitor. If the listing requires a particular location, account, or selected variant to show the price you care about, make sure the page state reflects that before monitoring.
- Select the price area. Choose only the displayed price or the smallest useful product-detail area, if the service offers selection. This can reduce alerts caused by unrelated page changes, but does not guarantee that every alert will be relevant.
- Choose the monitoring mode and schedule. Set a checking interval supported by your plan and mode. A check is not continuous surveillance: a price can change between checks, and an alert depends on a completed check detecting a change.
- Enable email notifications. Confirm the alert address and notification settings for that monitor. For Visualping, email is enabled by default according to its help documentation, but verify the setting rather than assuming it is active.
- Save the monitor and review its first check. Make sure the selected region contains the price and that the page loads in the state you expect. If the tool supports a test or preview, use it to confirm the monitored content.
- Inspect each alert before acting. Visualping documents emails with a monitor link, summary, text changes, and current and previous screenshots; additions are highlighted in green and deletions in red. Open the retailer page to confirm the live price, seller, selected variant, shipping, taxes, and other conditions.
Make the alert useful rather than noisy
- Monitor the price and, where relevant, the product title, selected size or variant, seller, and availability. A displayed number without its context can be misleading.
- Keep the selected area narrow enough to avoid unrelated page edits, but wide enough to include any labels needed to interpret the price.
- If changes to availability matter as much as price, include that detail in the selected region or create a separate monitor when the service allows it.
- Use an interval that fits your buying decision. Faster checks can reduce the time before detection, but the interval and check allowance depend on the service, plan, and monitoring mode.
Troubleshoot missing or noisy emails
No email arrived
- Check that the monitor completed a check after the price changed. If the change happened between checks, the next completed comparison may be the first opportunity to detect it.
- Confirm email notifications are enabled for the monitor and that the message was not routed to spam or another filtered folder.
- For Visualping, check whether the workspace is muted. Its alert troubleshooting guidance also notes that the page must be checked after a change for an alert to be sent.
- For a local monitor, confirm the required browser or device was running; Visualping says Chrome must remain open for local monitoring. For a cloud monitor, check its status and plan’s schedule.
Too many irrelevant alerts
- Refine the selected area to focus on the price or product details you need.
- Review the alert criteria available in your chosen service and adjust them if unrelated changes are triggering messages.
- Check whether the retailer rotates promotional text, recommendations, or other content inside the selected area. A screenshot comparison can help identify what changed.
The monitored price does not match the price you can buy
Retail prices may vary by seller, region, taxes, shipping, product variant, or logged-in state. Monitoring reports page changes; it does not establish that a displayed price is available to every buyer or will be honored at checkout. Confirm the live listing and final checkout terms before purchasing.
