You can get one when it is offered in the Item Shop or through an eligible pass, then equip it in your Locker. Sidekicks are cosmetics—not combat helpers—and each one’s live price, availability, and customization options can differ. Check the in-game shop and the item’s details before spending V-Bucks.
What Fortnite Sidekicks do
Sidekicks accompany your character in supported Fortnite experiences and react to their surroundings. Epic says they provide no gameplay advantage and do not take damage; you can interact with them using Sidekick Emotes. They are cosmetic companions, not pets that fight, collect items, or affect match results.

Epic announced Sidekicks on October 30, 2025, describing them as customizable companions whose selected physical traits determine how they appear. The announcement said they could join players in Battle Royale, LEGO Fortnite, developer-made experiences, and more. Read Epic’s Sidekicks announcement.
Where to get a Sidekick
Check the Item Shop
Sidekicks may appear in the in-game Item Shop. Shop availability rotates, so a Sidekick appearing in an older listing does not mean it is available now. Open the Item Shop in Fortnite and check the current listing, displayed V-Bucks price, and item details before buying.

Official shop results have shown examples priced at 1,200 V-Bucks, including Kit, The Best Cat, Phantom Guffpup, Kitsune, and Spike. These are examples, not a complete roster or a universal price. Epic’s individual Spike listing gave a purchase window through October 12, 2026 at 12:00 AM local time, but an item-specific window is not evidence that Spike—or any other Sidekick—is currently available. See Epic’s Item Shop and confirm the live in-game listing.
Passes and older entitlements
At launch, Epic said Peels would unlock in the Battle Pass beginning November 1, 2025, while Bonesy, Spike, and Lil’ Raptor would come to the Shop on November 7, 2025. Epic also said owners of the Bonesy Back Bling would receive the Bonesy Sidekick. These were dated launch routes, not current acquisition instructions. For a pass-exclusive Sidekick, check the currently available pass and its reward details; for older ownership entitlements, check the account that originally held the qualifying cosmetic.
How much do Sidekicks cost?
There is no established single price for every Sidekick. The official examples above show that some listings have been 1,200 V-Bucks, but the price and availability of a particular item should be taken from its current in-game listing. Do not treat a past shop result as a live offer or a full price list.

Rename it in the Locker
- In the Locker, select the Sidekick.
- Open the three-dot menu and choose Rename.
- Enter a name or choose a randomized one, then save.
Epic says a Sidekick whose description states that its appearance cannot be customized also cannot have its name or appearance changed. Check the item description if the rename option is unavailable. See Epic’s renaming instructions.
Accessories and Sidekick Points
Epic’s launch announcement says accessories can be changed at any time. It also described earning cosmetics such as hats and hoodies with Sidekick Points by spending time together. The announcement does not establish that every accessory or reward is available for every Sidekick, so check the options shown for the one you own. Epic’s announcement explains Sidekick customization.
Which Fortnite experiences support Sidekicks?
Epic Support lists Battle Royale, Save the World, Festival, LEGO Fortnite, and developer-made experiences among the supported experiences. In Festival, a Sidekick stays backstage. A developer-made island must enable Sidekicks; support is not automatic on every island. Epic’s compatibility chart provides the experience-by-experience details: What Sidekicks are and where they can be used.
