Start on the exact product page and look for a “Notify Me,” “Notify me when it’s back,” or similar option. Subscribe, then check that the right email address or app notification settings are in place. Whether an alert is offered—and whether it covers a particular size, color, delivery country, or store—depends on the retailer and item. An alert is not a reservation, and the item may sell out again before you return.
Choose the alert method that fits the product

Retailer alerts are the simplest place to start for a specific item. Target and iHerb both describe retailer-provided alerts, but their available channels and conditions differ. No independent head-to-head evidence establishes which approach is fastest or most reliable.

Set up a retailer restock alert
- Open the exact product page. Select the size, color, model, or other variant you want before looking for an alert. Stock can differ by variant, so confirm that the page or control reflects your selection; not every retailer’s alert is established to work at variant level.
- Choose the notification option. Select “Notify Me” or the equivalent. Sign in if prompted, then subscribe.
- Check the destination. Confirm the email address or app channel. If the retailer offers country, shipping destination, or store choices, set the ones you actually intend to use. iHerb specifically tells shoppers to use the correct destination country for its alerts.
- Make sure you can receive it. Check junk and promotions folders for email. For app alerts, allow notifications in the device settings as well as in the retailer app.
- Recheck the listing when notified. Confirm the item is in stock for your selected variant and destination, and verify the price, seller, and shipping details before buying.
What retailer alerts can and cannot tell you
Target says its alert option appears only when available for an item and that shoppers can subscribe on Target.com or in its app. Its notifications do not apply to store inventory. Target also cautions that opting in does not reserve or guarantee availability. iHerb warns that popular products may sell out again. Treat any alert as a prompt to check the listing, not as a stock hold or guarantee of purchase.
When to consider a browser-based tracker
If a store does not offer an alert, or you are watching several retailers, a browser extension that monitors product pages may be an option. Is In Stock advertises a Chrome extension with email and desktop browser notifications, says it covers “over 10,000+ retailers,” and says it checks “every 10 minutes.” Those are the vendor’s claims; they have not been independently tested here. Check current availability, exact retailer support, extension permissions, and privacy terms before installing. Do not assume a stated check interval means you will be notified immediately when stock changes.

Troubleshoot a missing or unhelpful alert
- No alert control appears: The retailer may not offer alerts for that item. Try the selected product variant, but do not assume every item or variant is eligible.
- No email arrives: Verify the address used to subscribe and check junk or promotions folders. If the retailer offers another channel, such as an app push notification, confirm that it is enabled.
- The alert refers to the wrong destination: Check the retailer’s country or delivery settings. For iHerb, the destination country matters.
- The item is unavailable when you open the alert: Stock can change before you act, and popular products may sell out again. Refresh the listing and verify the variant, seller, price, and shipping destination.
- You want to monitor multiple stores: A cross-retailer extension may help, but first confirm that it supports the precise pages you want to track and review its permissions and privacy information.

Can I get alerts for in-store inventory?
Target says its notifications do not apply to store inventory. Check the retailer’s own options for the store or location you plan to visit.
Are third-party stock alerts guaranteed to be immediate?
No guarantee of immediate alerts is established here. A browser extension’s stated checking interval or coverage is a vendor claim, not an independent reliability test.
