Which local channels does Sling TV carry in your area?
There is no single Sling local-channel lineup for every U.S. subscriber. Availability varies by market and plan, so a station carried in one ZIP code may not be available in another. Sling’s help page identifies some local channels as potentially available with Sling Blue, Sling Select, Essentials & Select, and Orange & Blue, depending on location. Sling Orange does not include local channels.

Choose between Sling, an antenna, and AirTV

Sling says most people can watch live local channels on a TV for free with an OTA antenna, but that does not guarantee reception at a particular address. Sling’s help page links to the FCC reception-check tool; use it before buying an antenna. An outdoor antenna may help some viewers, but placement and reception conditions vary.
AirTV is optional. For the simplest antenna setup, connect a compatible antenna directly to a TV. AirTV is for people who want to distribute antenna channels over home Wi-Fi or access them through the Sling app on supported devices. AirTV 2’s product information lists two tuners and support for an external drive larger than 50 GB and up to 2 TB for local DVR recording. Sling separately advertises AirTV Anywhere with an integrated 1TB DVR; check current product and offer availability before relying on those details.

Check Sling availability and troubleshoot a missing station
- Look up your address area. Enter your ZIP code in Sling’s local-channel checker and confirm the exact station and eligible plan before subscribing.
- If you already subscribe, check the app’s location. In Sling, open Settings → Location and confirm or update the current location if that option is available.
- If you cannot edit the location, restart your router. Sling recommends restarting the router when the location-edit option is unavailable, then checking the guide again.
- If the station is not offered, check antenna reception. Use the FCC reception-check tool linked from Sling’s help page before choosing an antenna. Connect the antenna to your TV first if you only need to watch on that set.
- Add AirTV only if you need network or app access. Confirm that your devices are supported and that the antenna receives the stations you want. For AirTV 2 DVR recording, connect compatible external storage.
Know where recordings are stored
Sling’s subscription DVR can record channels included with your Sling subscription. It does not record OTA channels that you add to the Sling guide with an antenna. Sling says AirTV 2 can record local channels to an external drive; this is a separate local-recording route rather than Sling subscription DVR storage. Sling also advertises AirTV Anywhere with an integrated 1TB DVR, subject to current availability.

Some antenna channels may appear only through the TV input or on the device directly connected to the antenna, rather than in the Sling guide. If an antenna channel is missing from the app, check whether the antenna is connected through AirTV, whether the device is supported, and whether the channel is available at your reception location.

- Reception: check the FCC reception information before buying an antenna; indoor reception cannot be guaranteed.
