Install Dolphin from its official Google Play listing for the simplest setup. If you need an APK instead, download an Android build from Dolphin’s official download page. Before either route, check that your device meets Dolphin’s processor, Android-version and graphics requirements; meeting them does not guarantee that games will run smoothly.
Check your Android device first
Dolphin’s project README lists these minimum requirements for Android: Android 7.0 or newer, a 64-bit ARMv8 or x86-64 processor, and OpenGL ES 3.0 or later. If your phone or tablet does not meet them, installation may fail or Dolphin may report an error.

Confirm the app is named Dolphin Emulator, then tap Install.

When installation finishes, open the app. For help, the listing links to Dolphin’s website and forums.
Google Play is the straightforward option because you install directly from the official store listing. The project also provides APK builds for Android on its own download page.

Use this route if you need an APK rather than the Play Store version. Download only from Dolphin’s official download page, which lists Android builds. Avoid third-party APK mirrors: the project page is the source for its own releases and development builds.

If Android asks you to allow the app used to open the file to install apps, follow the prompt for your device. The exact setting and wording can vary by Android version and manufacturer.

Finish the installation and open Dolphin. If Android blocks the APK or Dolphin reports unsupported hardware, revisit the requirements above rather than trying another download source.
Choose a release, beta or development build
For most first-time installers, choose a release or the latest beta. Dolphin’s FAQ recommends its latest beta as a reliable starting point, describing betas as well tested. The FAQ page was not available to verify directly, so treat that recommendation as the project’s guidance surfaced in its search result.

Start by checking the requirements, especially the processor architecture. Dolphin requires 64-bit ARMv8 or x86-64 support; a device running a recent Android version can still lack a supported processor or graphics capability. The project README says unsupported devices may fail installation and show an error, and Dolphin’s FAQ search result says the APK can alert users when requirements are missing.
- Check Android: the listed minimum is Android 7.0.
- Check processor architecture: it must be 64-bit ARMv8 or x86-64.
- Check graphics support: Dolphin lists OpenGL ES 3.0 or later.
- Confirm the download source: use the official Play listing or Dolphin download page.
- Read any error shown: an unsupported-device message may point to a requirement the device does not meet.
Graphics-driver quality affects gameplay performance, but the available requirements do not establish a performance rating for an individual device. They also do not explain every possible installation error; avoid assuming that reinstalling or changing an unrelated setting will resolve one.

Does Dolphin Emulator come with games?
No. Dolphin is an emulator, not a game bundle. Its Google Play listing states: “THIS APP DOES NOT COME WITH GAMES. You must buy and dump your own games to use them with Dolphin.”
What about Android TV?
The Google Play listing identifies these compatible Android TV devices: Nvidia Shield TV and Shield TV Pro (2015); Nvidia Shield TV and Shield TV Pro (2017); and Nvidia Shield TV Pro (2019). This listing does not establish compatibility for Android TV devices beyond those named.
