To get a Croatian IP address while abroad, use a VPN app that currently lists Croatia: install the app, choose Croatia, and connect. The VPN routes your internet traffic through that location and presents an IP address associated with Croatia. This can change how some services identify your connection, but it does not guarantee that a particular website or app will accept it.
How to get a Croatian IP address
- Choose a VPN and check its current locations. Confirm Croatia appears in the provider’s app or server list, and check whether your plan includes that location. Provider locations and plan details can change.
- Install the provider’s official app on the device you want to use and sign in.
- Select Croatia and connect. If the app offers more than one Croatian server, you can try another listed server if the connection is slow or rejected; this is a troubleshooting step, not a guaranteed fix.
- Check the connection. Use a trusted IP lookup service to see what country its location database associates with your IP, then try the specific website or app. Lookup databases and destination services can disagree.
Proton VPN documents selecting Croatia in its app or using Quick Connect, while ExpressVPN instructs users to choose “Croatia” from its server list and connect. Proton VPN’s Croatia page and ExpressVPN’s Croatia location page describe their respective options.

VPN providers that list Croatia
These are provider-published location details, not independent tests of speed, reliability, privacy, or access to any particular service. The available evidence does not support ranking the providers on performance.

| Provider | Published Croatia details | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Proton VPN | Its dynamic location page showed one city and 108 servers when retrieved in 2026; the count can change. The provider lists apps for Windows, Mac, Linux, Chromebook, Android, iPhone, and Android TV. Proton VPN location page | Confirm current availability and whether your plan includes the location. Proton’s no-logs and streaming statements are provider claims, not independently verified here. |
| ExpressVPN | It says its Croatia servers are in Zagreb and lists Croatia for the protocols shown on its location page. These are provider statements, not an independently measured route or compatibility result. ExpressVPN location page | Check the current app’s server list and the plan and device details that apply to your account. |
| NordVPN | Its official server list includes Croatia with one city. The retrieved listing does not state the city name or a server count. NordVPN Croatia server list | Check the current app for available locations and applicable plan details. |
Provider location pages establish that Croatia is listed, not that a bank, government portal, streaming service, or other destination will accept a connection from that provider. Before subscribing, compare current Croatia availability, device support, plan access, and published privacy terms.

If a website or app still does not work
A Croatian VPN location changes the apparent network location; it does not override a service’s access controls or account rules. A destination may reject a VPN connection, use signals beyond IP location, or have terms that limit access by location or account. If access fails, check the destination’s terms and contact its support rather than assuming that another server will solve the problem.
The sources here do not establish whether using a VPN for any named service is legal or contractually permitted in a reader’s situation. The European Commission’s page on implementation of the EU Geo-blocking Regulation in Croatia provides geo-blocking context, but does not decide whether a VPN connection to a particular service is allowed.

What provider location claims do—and do not—tell you
A location listing is useful for choosing a VPN that offers a Croatian endpoint. It is not proof of a particular service’s compatibility, an independently confirmed physical route, or a comparative performance result. For example, Proton VPN’s page says it added Croatia and Malta locations in 2022; that historical announcement does not describe today’s inventory. Current server counts and routing details should be checked on the provider’s live pages.
Croatia’s government describes National CERT as a CARNET department established on 30 October 2007, responsible for incidents involving a Croatian domain or Croatian IP range. That description is not evidence about a VPN provider’s logging, privacy practices, or surveillance. Government of Croatia: National CERT
