To generate a Hindi social media card with HTMLCSStoImage, create the card as HTML and CSS, choose a font that includes Devanagari characters, and send the markup to the service’s image endpoint. The API returns an image URL. Because its documentation describes font controls but does not guarantee Hindi text shaping, inspect the rendered image before publishing—especially conjuncts, vowel marks, line breaks, and clipping.
Choose HTML or a webpage URL
For a designed social card, use the API’s html input with CSS. HTMLCSStoImage accepts either HTML or a publicly accessible webpage URL; the inputs are alternatives, and the URL input overrides HTML when both are supplied. Use a URL when the content already lives on a public page and you want to capture that page. Use HTML when you need precise control over the card’s typography and layout.

- Write the Hindi as Unicode text. Keep it as real text in your HTML rather than embedding the words in a raster image.
- Choose a Devanagari-capable font. Set it in CSS, or use the documented
google_fontsoption to load Google Fonts. Verify that your chosen font covers Devanagari; the API’s font-loading controls are not a guarantee of correct Hindi shaping. - Design for a fixed canvas. Give the card explicit width and height, and set both
viewport_widthandviewport_heightin the request. The dimensions below are illustrative, not requirements imposed by HTMLCSStoImage or a social platform. - Select an output format. The API documents PNG, JPG, WebP, and PDF. PNG is a practical starting point for a text-heavy card; check the final file at the size and crop where it will appear.
- Adjust resolution only if needed. The documented device-scale control affects image resolution and file size. Generate a sample and check legibility before increasing it.
Send the HTMLCSStoImage request
HTMLCSStoImage documents a POST endpoint at https://hcti.io/v1/image and HTTP Basic authentication: use your API ID as the username and API key as the password. Keep the secret key on your server or in a secure environment variable, not in browser-side JavaScript. The response provides an image URL. Validate the rendered Hindi card before publishing
Do not assume that valid HTML guarantees correctly shaped Hindi in the output. Check the actual image, not just the source markup:
- Inspect conjuncts and vowel marks for missing, separated, or misplaced glyphs.
- Look for unexpected font fallback, particularly when a font fails to load.
- Check that line breaks preserve the intended words and that text does not clip at the card edges.
- View the card at its intended display size and crop, and confirm adequate contrast.
If the text looks wrong, first confirm the font’s Devanagari coverage and successful loading, then adjust the CSS and generate another sample. The vendor documentation reviewed establishes font controls, but not a guaranteed Hindi rendering result or a validated Hindi font.

Common problems and fixes
Hindi glyphs are missing or malformed
Check that the selected font supports Devanagari and that it loaded in the rendered page. Try another Devanagari-capable font and inspect a fresh output. The documented font options do not certify shaping for a specific font.
The card is clipped or the layout is unexpectedly scaled
Match the CSS canvas dimensions to the request’s viewport. When setting one viewport dimension, provide the other as well; the API documentation specifies width and height together. Review the card at the intended output crop.

The image URL is not the image file you expected
The API response includes an image URL. Read the response rather than assuming the POST body itself is the image bytes, then open or download the returned URL.
The request is rejected or authentication fails
Confirm that the request uses POST to https://hcti.io/v1/image, uses HTTP Basic authentication with the API ID as username and API key as password, and includes valid HTML/CSS inputs. Check the current API reference for the accepted parameter schema.
Performance and cost considerations
Device scale is a documented way to control output resolution, and HTMLCSStoImage notes that it affects file size as well. Use the lowest scale that remains crisp at the intended display size, then verify the result. The official getting-started guide identifies social media as a use for returned image URLs.
