Choose the projection mode for your setup
The correct mode depends on where the projector sits in relation to the screen and whether it is mounted upside down:
| Projector placement | Mode to choose | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| In front of the screen, in a normal tabletop position | Front | Displays the image without a placement flip. |
| In front of the screen, mounted upside down | Front/Upside Down or Front/Ceiling | Flips the image top-to-bottom. |
| Behind a translucent screen | Rear | Flips the image horizontally so it reads correctly from the viewing side. |
| Behind a translucent screen, mounted upside down | Rear/Upside Down or Rear/Ceiling | Combines the horizontal and vertical flips. |
Epson’s projection-mode guide explains the Rear setting for projection from behind a translucent screen. Mode names vary between models.

Try the remote shortcut only if your model supports it
Some Epson models let you change the projection mode by holding the remote’s Image A/V mute button for about six seconds. This shortcut is model-specific, not a universal Epson control. Check your projector’s guide and confirm the remote has the named button before relying on it. Epson documents the shortcut in guides such as the projector guide for changing projection mode and the EF11 guide.
