To troubleshoot wired controller input lag on Windows 11, first compare games and controllers, then test the USB connection directly to the PC. If the controller works reliably, check the game’s display mode and Windows’ refresh-rate and graphics settings. A wired connection rules out some wireless issues, but it does not identify whether delay comes from the controller, game, USB path, or display pipeline.
First identify where the delay occurs
Before changing settings, note whether the delay affects every game or just one, whether it is steady or intermittent, and whether a keyboard or another input device also feels delayed. These comparisons help narrow the cause:

- One game only: The game’s settings or its interaction with the display mode may be involved. Check that game’s official support information and settings.
- Several games, one controller: Inspect that controller and its USB connection, then compare with another compatible controller if available.
- Several input devices: The issue may be beyond the controller, including the game or display path.
- Intermittent delay or disconnects: Prioritize checking the cable, connector, and USB port rather than changing graphics settings first.
These are diagnostic clues, not proof of a particular cause. Test the same game and scene when comparing changes so that different conditions do not cloud the result.
Check the wired USB connection
Reseat the connector and inspect the cable and the PC’s USB port for looseness or visible damage. For diagnosis, connect the controller directly to the PC instead of through a hub or dock, and try another suitable USB port. Microsoft’s general USB-C troubleshooting guidance supports checking compatibility and trying a direct connection; it is not a controller-specific latency fix.

If you have access to a known-good compatible cable or controller, compare it under the same conditions. A replacement cable is worth considering if the current one is damaged, unstable, or incompatible; replacing a cable that works properly is not established as a way to reduce latency. Likewise, a different controller is a useful comparison, not a guaranteed fix.
Check the monitor’s refresh rate
In Windows 11, open Settings > System > Display > Advanced display and inspect the selected refresh rate. Choose only a rate supported by the monitor. Microsoft says a higher refresh rate can improve responsiveness and reduce input lag, but the effect depends on the display and game.

- Versatile compatibility: supports Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One X/S consoles and PC Win10 and above (including the game platform Steam).
- Precise control: features Hall joysticks and Hall triggers for a comfortable feeling, long service life and improved game accuracy.
- Plug and Play Convenience: Wired USB connection (removable) for easy setup and instant play without the need for additional drivers.
- Customizable experience: Includes 2 custom backbuttons that allow users to eliminate false triggers and improve their gaming experience.
- Impressive gameplay: Provides a pulsating vibration trigger and an asymmetric vibration grip motor for intense tactile feedback.
Variable refresh rate (VRR) may affect whether changing the rate manually is useful in a particular game. Windows 11 also includes Dynamic Refresh Rate, so the available choices and behavior can depend on your display and configuration. See Microsoft’s guide to changing a monitor’s refresh rate.

1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsTest Optimizations for windowed games only where supported
Windows 11’s Optimizations for windowed games setting concerns graphics presentation, not the controller’s polling rate. Microsoft says it supports DirectX 10 and DirectX 11 games running in windowed or borderless mode, transitions supported games to flip-model presentation, and can reduce frame latency. Do not assume it applies to every game or to exclusive full-screen mode.

- With broad game support, the Logitech Gamepad F310 works with old standbys to today's biggest titles, so it's easy to set up and use with your favorite games.
- Profiler software allows the gamepad to be programmed to perform keyboard and mouse commands for games without gamepad support.* * Requires software installation.
- A familiar control layout that doesn't require a learning curve to be able to use, with all the same buttons as on an Xbox 360.
- The unique floating D-pad rests on four switches-instead of a single pivot point-making it responsive to quick changes in direction.
- The six-foot cord lets you lean back and play a comfortable distance from your PC monitor.
- Open Settings > System > Display > Graphics.
- Turn on Optimizations for windowed games.
- Restart the game before comparing its behavior.
Test the same game in the same scene and display mode before and after the change. Microsoft’s Windows 11 windowed-game optimization instructions describe the supported modes and restart requirement.

Use a controlled comparison rather than changing several settings at once. Keep the game, scene, controller, and display mode constant; change one setting or connection; then check whether the symptom changes. If there is no improvement, return that setting to its previous value before trying another. This makes it easier to distinguish a useful change from coincidence.

One controller optimized for multiple genres without needing separate setups.
- Feel Recoil, Acceleration, and Impact More Realistically: 4-motor vibration across both triggers and grips makes shooting, driving, crashing, and combat feel more immersive. Experience stronger recoil feedback in shooters and more realistic acceleration and road feel in racing games.
- Quick In-Game Adjustments Without Interrupting Gameplay: Fine-tune vibration, switch profiles, remap buttons, or adjust volume directly on the controller while gaming. No need to pause the match or open software — perfect for players who constantly switch between FPS, RPG, racing, and multiplayer games.
When to check controller or game support
If only one game is affected, consult that game’s official support and settings. For controller firmware or model-specific troubleshooting, use the current official instructions from Xbox or the controller manufacturer for your exact model. The available Xbox support pages do not provide verifiable step-by-step instructions here, so no model-specific firmware path can be stated reliably.

Do not treat disabling USB selective suspend or editing the registry as established Windows 11 controller-lag fixes. The Microsoft selective-suspend article sometimes cited for this issue concerns Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2, not Windows 11. A driver-cleaner or updater tool is also not indicated by the available evidence.
