Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Start by identifying where the fault occurs: a frozen live channel on a Vodafone TV box, intermittent pixelation, poor quality in the Vodafone TV app, or buffering across several internet services. Check Vodafone’s live service status first; then follow the steps for your country and product. The box-specific freeze and pixelation instructions below apply to Vodafone TV PLAY in Ireland. Vodafone UK’s public TV help hub does not provide the same general freeze-repair sequence, so do not assume Irish menu paths or support details apply to a UK TV Hub.
First, identify the service and scope of the problem
Vodafone TV can mean a set-top box, a UK TV Hub, or the Vodafone TV app. The right fix depends on which one you use and whether the problem affects live TV, an app, or the whole home connection. Vodafone’s UK TV help hub lists TV Hub support topics, while Vodafone’s detailed freeze and pixelation guidance is for Vodafone TV PLAY in Ireland.

- Only a live channel on the box is frozen: use the Ireland TV PLAY restart steps only if that is your product.
- Live TV stutters or pixelates intermittently: on Ireland TV PLAY, check the connection between the box and router.
- The Vodafone TV app looks soft or drops quality: check the Wi-Fi or mobile signal used by the device running the app.
- Several devices or services are slow or failing: investigate the broadband connection or an outage before focusing on the TV box.
Check Vodafone Ireland’s service updates for current TV or broadband issues. The page’s status changes, so rely on what it shows when you check rather than an earlier reported status.

If a live channel is completely frozen on Ireland TV PLAY
Vodafone’s guidance for a fully frozen live channel is to restart the TV box. You can restart it using either method:

If the channel remains frozen after restarting, contact Vodafone Ireland Support at 1907, as directed by Vodafone’s troubleshooting page. Do not jump straight to a factory restore: it erases recordings, scheduled recordings, profiles and preferences. Vodafone says to restore factory settings only when necessary or when advised by a qualified support engineer.
If Ireland TV PLAY channels intermittently freeze or pixelate
If the picture breaks up or freezes on and off—particularly when error code SAV1836 appears—Vodafone says the likely issue is the internet connection between the router and TV box. Its preferred test is a direct wired connection: connect the box to the router using the supplied Ethernet cable. Vodafone describes this as the most reliable service connection.

If you cannot run a cable, Vodafone mentions a SuperWiFi extender placed within five metres of the box as an alternative. This is a provider-suggested option, not a guaranteed fix; Vodafone’s page says customers need to contact its sales team to add one. Its TV PLAY installation FAQ also recommends Ethernet for the best viewing experience.
If buffering or low picture quality happens over Wi-Fi in the UK
Vodafone UK notes that an unreliable Wi-Fi signal can cause buffering or poor picture quality even when the available broadband speed seems sufficient. Before treating headline speed as the only issue, check whether the router’s signal is obstructed or affected by nearby electrical devices. If the TV is close enough to the router, Vodafone recommends connecting it by Ethernet for a fast, consistent connection. See Vodafone’s broadband speed guide.

For customers with part-fibre or full-fibre broadband, Vodafone’s Broadband app can check network stability and connected devices. Vodafone directs 5G Broadband customers to My Vodafone instead. These tools can help distinguish a general network or device issue from a TV-only fault.
If the Vodafone TV app looks blurry or keeps changing quality
For the Vodafone TV app, check the connection on the phone, tablet or other device actually playing the stream. Vodafone Ireland says reduced Wi-Fi or mobile signal can lower stream quality; the video can adapt to a lower quality when the signal weakens. Check whether the connection is stable and whether the same device has trouble with other online services. If the problem occurs only in the app, it is different from a frozen live channel through a set-top box. Vodafone’s TV app support page covers this signal-related quality behavior.

If Netflix, Disney+ or Prime Video is the service having trouble
A problem inside a third-party streaming app is not necessarily a Vodafone TV box fault. Vodafone Ireland directs customers with problems in apps such as Netflix, Disney+ or Prime Video to the respective app provider. A box restart may not resolve an issue originating with the streaming service.
Do speed figures explain the problem?
Speed figures can provide context, but they are not a diagnosis for every Vodafone TV product. Vodafone UK’s broadband guide, citing Netflix guidance as published on the page in 2026, gives recommendations of 3 Mbps for HD, 5 Mbps for Full HD and 15 Mbps for Ultra HD (4K) per device. The guide says three simultaneous Ultra HD Netflix streams would total 45 Mbps and notes that other services can differ. These are Netflix-specific recommendations, not a minimum speed requirement for Vodafone TV PLAY.

The same Vodafone UK guide gives at least 25 Mbps for standard broadband and a 51.48 Mbps average UK broadband speed, identified as 2024 context. Neither figure establishes what an individual TV box needs or proves that a particular connection is performing reliably. A weak or obstructed Wi-Fi link can still cause streaming problems even when a broadband speed figure looks adequate.
Quick Recap
When the problem continues
- Wider connection issue or suspected outage: check Vodafone’s live status and broadband troubleshooting resources rather than repeatedly restarting the TV box.
- Frozen Ireland TV PLAY live channel after restart: contact Vodafone Ireland Support at 1907.
- UK TV Hub or account issue: use Vodafone UK’s support hub and the current guide for the exact device. Ireland’s 1907 number, TV PLAY menu path and box-specific advice are not universal UK instructions.
- Third-party app playback issue: contact the relevant streaming provider when the fault is within its app.
