For a missing dongle connection, use the manual 2.4 GHz pairing sequence; for phone or app trouble, refresh Bluetooth pairing and check for available app and firmware updates. Reset the buds only after trying those steps.
Identify the connection that is failing
The right fix depends on what you are trying to connect. The dongle’s 2.4 GHz pairing procedure is different from pairing a phone over Bluetooth, and the Companion App has its own discovery troubleshooting. If you are trying to use two Bluetooth devices at once, that is a documented limitation rather than necessarily a fault.

Reconnect the GameBuds to the 2.4 GHz dongle
SteelSeries says the GameBuds normally arrive paired to their 2.4 GHz dongle, so manual pairing should not usually be necessary. If that connection has been lost, use this sequence from SteelSeries’ dongle-pairing instructions:
- Place both earbuds in the charging case.
- Hold the button on either earbud for three seconds, then release it. The LED blinks blue, indicating Bluetooth pairing mode.
- Press an earbud button once more. The LED blinks green, indicating 2.4 GHz pairing mode.
- Connect the dongle to the PS4 or other target device, then hold the dongle button for three seconds.
- Check whether the GameBuds reconnect.
Blue is the Bluetooth-mode indication; green is the 2.4 GHz pairing-mode indication. The blue blink alone does not mean dongle pairing is complete. SteelSeries gives a PS4 or another device as examples; its instructions do not cover every console or USB setup.

Fix phone Bluetooth or Companion App discovery
If the phone cannot pair with the buds or the Arctis Companion App cannot find them, SteelSeries recommends checking firmware, the app, and the phone’s Bluetooth pairing. Follow these steps from its Companion App troubleshooting guide:
- Connect the wireless dongle to a computer that has SteelSeries GG installed. Open Engine and install a GameBuds firmware update if one is offered.
- Check that the Arctis Companion App is up to date.
- Place the GameBuds in their case and forget the GameBuds Bluetooth entry in your phone’s Bluetooth settings.
- Turn phone Bluetooth off and back on, then pair the GameBuds with the phone again.
- Retry the Companion App. If it still cannot find the buds, reinstall the app.
Firmware installation is conditional: install an update only if GG offers one. SteelSeries’ guidance does not name a particular firmware version or claim that an update will cure intermittent disconnections. The Bluetooth menu labels may differ by phone and operating system.

Check whether you are switching between devices
The GameBuds cannot connect to more than one device over Bluetooth at the same time. If you are trying to pair another Bluetooth device, SteelSeries says to open the case with the buds inside, hold an earbud button for three seconds until the blue light flashes, and then pair from the other device. This Bluetooth limit is not the same as switching between Bluetooth and the 2.4 GHz dongle.

Factory-reset the GameBuds as a later step
If reconnecting, re-pairing, and checking for updates have not helped, SteelSeries provides factory-reset options in the Arctis Companion App and SteelSeries GG. A reset returns the buds to factory settings, but SteelSeries does not promise that it will resolve every connection problem. You may need to configure or pair the earbuds again afterward.
Reset in the Arctis Companion App
- Connect the GameBuds to the app.
- Open Settings and select Restore Factory Defaults.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
Reset in SteelSeries GG on PC or Mac
- Open SteelSeries GG and go to Engine.
- Select Arctis GameBuds, then choose Restore Factory Defaults.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
If the Companion App cannot connect well enough to reset the buds, use the GG route where available. The full procedures are in SteelSeries’ Arctis GameBuds reset guide.

If the GameBuds keep disconnecting
SteelSeries’ support instructions do not identify one universal cause or a dedicated remedy for repeated drops after pairing, app, and firmware steps. If the connection still fails, contact SteelSeries support and describe which connection is dropping, what steps you tried, and whether the issue occurs with Bluetooth, the dongle, or both.
