If your Samsung Galaxy Buds won’t pair with an Android phone, first check charge and distance, restart the earbuds, then remove the old Bluetooth pairing and pair again using the instructions for your exact Buds model. If they connect but keep dropping out, troubleshoot fit, range, obstructions, battery, and software instead. Save a factory reset and the phone’s broader network reset for later.
Start with the type of connection problem
There are two different problems to diagnose. If the Buds do not appear in Bluetooth settings or pairing fails, focus on pairing mode and clearing the saved pairing. If they connect but disconnect later, check fit, battery, distance, obstructions, and software updates.

Check charge, distance, and interference
- Charge the phone and both earbuds. The case should also have enough charge to support the earbuds.
- Keep the phone close to the open case while pairing, with no wall or other obstruction between them.
- Move away from potential sources of wireless interference, such as a Wi-Fi router or a running microwave.
For intermittent disconnections, Samsung gives about 30 feet as a general range guideline, but the usable distance varies with the environment and phone model. Treat it as approximate, not a guaranteed Bluetooth range. Samsung’s connection troubleshooting guide covers both connection failures and dropouts.

Restart the earbuds before resetting them
Place both earbuds in the charging case, close the lid, wait at least seven seconds, then take them out. Samsung describes this as a manual restart, which may let the earbuds reconnect automatically. It does not erase their settings or perform a factory reset. Samsung’s restart and reset instructions distinguish the two actions.

Forget the saved pairing and pair again
- On the Android phone, open Settings and go to Bluetooth settings. The exact route and labels vary by phone and software version.
- Select the Galaxy Buds entry and choose Unpair or Forget.
- Put the Buds into pairing mode using the steps for their model family below.
- On the phone, scan for available Bluetooth devices and select the Galaxy Buds.
Samsung lists different pairing procedures for different generations. Identify the model before trying a button or touchpad combination:

These steps come from Samsung’s model-specific pairing instructions. Pairing mode varies among models; if your earbuds are from a different family, use the manual for that exact model rather than guessing.

If the earbuds connect but keep dropping out
- Adjust the earbuds so they fit securely; a loose fit can affect the connection.
- Keep the phone nearby and remove obstructions between it and the earbuds.
- Check that both earbuds and the phone have sufficient charge.
- Move away from likely sources of wireless interference.
- Check for available phone and earbud software updates.
Update steps vary by device and Buds model, so do not assume every model uses the same Android menu. Samsung recommends checking software updates as part of its connection troubleshooting.
Use the right reset only if simpler steps fail
Factory-reset the Buds
A factory reset restores the earbuds to their default settings, so you will need to set them up again. Samsung’s current US instructions say both earbuds should have at least 15% battery before resetting. The menu depends on the phone’s One UI version:

- One UI 8.0 or later: Open Settings, select the Galaxy Buds, choose Manage connections, then Reset and confirm.
- Earlier One UI versions: Open the Galaxy Wearable app, choose Manage connections, then Reset and confirm.
Menu names and availability can vary by model, region, and software version. Check Samsung’s reset guide if your menus differ.
Reset the phone’s Wi-Fi and Bluetooth settings only as a last resort
This is broader than forgetting the Buds: Samsung says it removes saved Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and other connection information, so you may need to reconnect networks and pair devices again. Try removing and pairing the Buds alone first. On supported Galaxy phones, Samsung places the option under Settings > General management > Reset > Reset Wi-Fi and Bluetooth settings; labels may vary. If the Buds still will not connect
If the earbuds still fail to pair after the model-appropriate pairing steps, restart, software checks, and reset options, contact Samsung support or request service. A connection failure alone does not establish that a particular component has failed. Samsung’s connection guide and restart and reset guide provide the relevant support routes. Service availability depends on your region.
