“Offline” in the Rockstar Games Launcher can mean a Rockstar service outage, a problem with your PC’s network or configuration, or an account that is not eligible for offline sign-in. Check the live service status and the exact message or error code before changing settings; each points to a different next step.
Why is my Rockstar Launcher offline?
First check whether other internet services work on your PC, then check Rockstar’s live service status page for the Launcher and the game you want to play. If the relevant services are down, local network changes are unlikely to resolve a service-side problem. If Rockstar lists them as Up, Rockstar says the cause may instead be your network setup or a connection conflict.

Rockstar’s connection guide lists 7.5 Mbps download, 1 Mbps recommended upload, and 0.5 Mbps minimum upload. These are its stated network targets, not a guarantee that the Launcher will connect: service availability, configuration, and other connection issues can still matter. The guide also lists UDP ports 6672, 61455, 61456, 61457, and 61458.
How can I troubleshoot connectivity issues with the Rockstar Games Launcher?
1. Rule out a local connection problem
- Confirm that websites or another internet-dependent app load on the same PC.
- Check Rockstar’s live status page for the Launcher and the game’s services. A status result only describes the time it was checked.
- If you are using Wi-Fi and still have connection trouble, try a wired Ethernet connection as a diagnostic. Rockstar recommends trying wired networking for persistent wireless issues; it is not a fix for an outage or every sign-in error.
2. Check whether offline sign-in was set up in advance
For error 6000.87, offline sign-in fallback is available only if you previously signed in on that computer while online, selected “Remember me,” and Rockstar services were available at the time. Without those prerequisites, the Launcher may not be able to authenticate you offline.

If Rockstar services are Up, Rockstar’s next step for this error is to refresh the local profile: open Launcher Settings > Account Information > Delete local profile, then sign in again. This removes local profile details, so you will need to sign in again. Rockstar says it does not delete your Rockstar account or saved games.
Can I play games offline using the Rockstar Games Launcher?
It depends on the game and mode. Rockstar says, “Story mode generally does not require an internet connection to play.” Some games or modes may still need an internet connection for activation or gameplay. A connection may also be necessary to sync cloud progress or saves, or to download updates.

What should I do for a specific connection error?
Error 3000.108: authentication configuration could not be retrieved
Rockstar describes 3000.108 as a failure to retrieve authentication configuration from Launcher Services. Start by checking your internet connection and the live service status page. If those checks do not explain the error, Rockstar documents these Windows network-reset steps as a later troubleshooting measure:
- Open Command Prompt as an administrator.
- Run
ipconfig /release, thenipconfig /renewto release and renew the IP configuration. - Run
ipconfig /flushdns, thenipconfig /registerdns. - Run
netsh winsock reset. - Restart the computer and try the Launcher again.
These commands change Windows networking state, so use them after the basic connection and service checks rather than as the first response to an outage.

Library Service connection error
If the displayed message specifically concerns the Rockstar Games Library Service, Rockstar identifies Windows update state, misconfigured components, or a paused or stopped Library Service as possible causes. Its guidance is to update Windows, run the Rockstar Games Launcher installer to check components, and make sure the Library Service startup type is set to Automatic. These steps apply to the Library Service error, not every message that says the Launcher is offline.
When game files may be the problem
Use file verification when the symptoms suggest damaged or outdated game files rather than a general sign-in failure. In the Launcher, open Settings, select the installed game, and choose Verify Integrity. Rockstar says this checks whether game and supporting files are up to date and can resolve several types of issues.
