A Reg-suit S3 “Access Denied” error is a permissions or configuration problem to diagnose at the failing S3 operation—not an India-specific issue established by the available documentation. Identify whether Reg-suit is reading snapshots, uploading results, deleting objects, or listing the bucket; then check the CI identity, the permission and resource scope for that operation, and any policies or S3 controls that can deny it.
What Reg-suit needs from S3
Reg-suit is a visual regression testing CLI. Its S3 publisher fetches earlier snapshot images for comparison and publishes current snapshots and comparison reports to a configured bucket. The plugin requires a bucket name and supports optional AWS SDK client settings through sdkOptions. See the Reg-suit S3 publisher documentation and project README.

The plugin documents these IAM actions as its starting permission set:

Do not grant every action automatically. Match the failed request and the installed plugin’s behavior to the permission it needs, and scope bucket-level and object-level resources appropriately.

Diagnose the denial in order
-
Identify the failed operation
Record whether the error occurred while Reg-suit fetched expected snapshots, uploaded current snapshots or reports, deleted objects, or listed the bucket. Preserve the complete AWS error text and request context, including any request ID. The operation narrows down which action and resource scope to inspect.
-
Confirm the identity used by CI
Find which AWS credentials the CI process actually uses; do not assume it is the identity available in your local terminal. Check that the relevant configuration and environment variables are populated as intended. Reg-suit supports environment-value substitution in plugin configuration, so inspect the resolved values without exposing secrets in logs. AWS evaluates the principal making the request, not the person who configured the workflow. See AWS guidance for troubleshooting access denied errors and the Reg-suit README.
-
Match the permission to the resource
Check that an applicable Allow covers the action that failed and the correct ARN. Bucket operations such as listing and object operations such as reading or writing objects use different resource scopes. A missing applicable Allow can cause an implicit denial even when another action is permitted. Use the plugin’s action list as a starting point, then tailor it to the workflow.

Check every policy layer for an explicit denial or restriction
Review the principal’s identity policies and, where applicable, the bucket policy, permissions boundary, session policy, and AWS Organizations policies. For cross-account access, check both the caller’s permissions and the resource-side policy. An explicit Deny overrides an Allow; session policies and other constraints can also limit effective access. See AWS IAM access-denied troubleshooting and AWS access policy evaluation guidance.
-
Inspect encryption and S3-specific controls
If the bucket uses SSE-KMS, verify that the principal can use the relevant KMS key as well as perform the required S3 action. Depending on the request and setup, also check Object Lock, the VPC endpoint policy, access-point configuration, and organization controls. AWS’s S3 403 troubleshooting guide describes these possible denial sources.
-
Verify the bucket region and client configuration
Confirm the bucket’s actual AWS Region and the S3 client configuration Reg-suit uses, especially if
sdkOptionsis set. The available Reg-suit and AWS documentation does not establish India as a distinct cause of this error. Check the actual bucket and request configuration rather than inferring a cause from the developer’s location. -
Retest the same workflow
After making the narrowest suitable change, rerun the workflow and confirm the specific read, write, list, or delete operation succeeds. If the denial persists, use the request context to revisit the remaining policy and configuration layers. AWS advises contacting Support if its S3 403 troubleshooting does not resolve the issue.

Why making the bucket public is not a fix
AWS says, “By default, all Amazon S3 resources are private.” A public bucket does not correct a missing CI permission or an explicit denial; it can expose snapshots and reports unnecessarily. Keep the bucket private and grant the workflow only the access it needs. See AWS S3 access-control documentation.

Reg-suit’s S3 denial is an AWS authorization issue; a screenshot API does not change IAM policies or repair the failing S3 request. If your separate goal is capturing a website screenshot without setting up a browser, ScreenshotNeo offers a one-request screenshot API:

See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options. It removes cookie banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are not billed. Its MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. Sign up for ScreenshotNeo.
