Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteThe reviewed community Linux instructions describe a general PS5 workflow, but do not confirm support for PS5 Pro. Treat Pro compatibility as unverified unless the exact project release explicitly lists your console model and firmware; boot tweaks or an accessory cannot make unsupported hardware compatible. Before troubleshooting, note your PS5 model and revision, system firmware, Linux image and loader version, and the precise symptom.
Why won’t my PS5 Pro boot Linux?
First establish whether your setup is supported. The community PS5 Linux project README documents a PS5 workflow but does not state that PS5 Pro is supported. Do not assume an instruction or exploit for a base PS5 applies to the Pro. Look for an explicit statement covering your model and firmware in the release documentation for the exact image and loader you use.

If your setup is confirmed by its project documentation, follow that project’s boot sequence rather than treating these general PS5 steps as a PS5 Pro fix:
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Use boot media that meets the project’s stated requirement: at least 64 GB. The README recommends an external SSD. The drive requirement does not establish console compatibility.
- Wait for the orange LED to stop blinking and become steady before pressing the power button to continue the Linux boot.
- If the console returns to PS5 OS, the README identifies pressing the power button too early or not enabling the required rest-mode features as possible causes. Check the project’s exact instructions for the setup you are running.
- If the loader freezes, the README notes that `etahen` or `kstuff` being enabled can be incompatible with that project. Confirm your project and configuration before changing either setting.
What to check for a PS5 Pro Linux black screen
A white indicator with no picture may point to a display problem rather than proving that Linux failed to boot. For the documented project workflow, its README suggests the following checks; these are community troubleshooting suggestions, not verified PS5 Pro fixes:
#1 Best Overall
- Ultra Customizable Controls
- Mappable Back Buttons
- DualSense Wireless Controller Features Built In
- Replaceable Stick Modules and Caps
- In `cmdline.txt`, remove `video=DP-1:1920×1080@60` and test whether the display comes on.
- Test HDCP both enabled and disabled.
- Try a different monitor or capture card, and test a different resolution. The README reports compatibility problems with some displays.
- As an alternative test, add `amdgpu.force_1080p=1` to the command line.
Change one item at a time so you can tell which change affects the symptom. Use the exact file and instructions for your image; do not assume these settings apply to an unverified PS5 Pro setup.
How do I get a DualSense controller working in PS5 Linux?
Controller guidance differs between the reviewed project documentation. One README says built-in Bluetooth is not supported in that project version and lists a Bluetooth dongle as an optional connection method. A second README says DualSense works over built-in Bluetooth as well as with a dongle. Neither statement supports a universal fix for every image or version.

- Experience varying levels of force and tension at your fingertips with adaptive triggers
- Chat online through the built-in microphone and connect a headset directly through the 3.5mm jack
- Switch voice capture on and off using the dedicated mute button
- Play on more devices using the USB Type-C cable or Bluetooth to connect easily to Windows PC and Mac computers, Android and iOS mobile phones as well as your PlayStation 5
- Confirm that the console has booted into Linux, rather than assuming a controller problem when the boot itself has failed.
- Check the controller and Bluetooth instructions for your exact Linux image and release, including whether that version requires a dongle or supports the internal adapter.
- Verify that Linux detects the Bluetooth adapter and the controller before trying to pair them. Use the image’s documented pairing procedure.
Sony’s PS5 Pro Console User Guide explains pairing a DualSense to the console: connect it with a USB cable and press the PS button. That is console setup guidance; it does not establish how to pair a controller in Linux.
