Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →If Peacock keeps buffering, loading slowly, freezing, showing a spinner or black screen, or refusing to start a video, first reduce other activity on your network and test the connection. Then close and reopen Peacock, restart your device, clear the app’s cache and data, and reinstall the app only if needed. Check that your exact device and software version are supported. These steps help narrow down common causes, but they cannot identify the cause of a particular failure on their own.
Start with the network
Streaming video is delivered in packets. If the next packet is delayed, playback may pause while Peacock waits for more data. Network congestion is one possible reason: Peacock advises reducing the number of devices using the same network and pausing large downloads, uploads, or online gaming activity before trying again. Peacock Help Center explains buffering and offers these network suggestions.
Peacock recommends a minimum connection speed of 3.0 Mbps to enjoy its content and at least 8 Mbps for certain high-quality live events and ultra-high-definition premium content. These are Peacock’s published recommendations, not guarantees of uninterrupted playback. A speed test is only one clue; it does not show whether Wi-Fi is stable or whether the app or device is working correctly.
- Pause competing streams and large transfers, then retry the same video.
- If possible, run a speed test on the device you use to watch Peacock and compare the result with Peacock’s recommendations.
- If both your device and router support Ethernet, you can compare playback over a wired connection with Wi-Fi. This is an optional diagnostic experiment, not a guaranteed fix; check whether the wired test changes the symptom before considering new equipment.
Close Peacock, restart your device, and check the connection
Peacock’s core troubleshooting advice for playback issues is to relaunch the app, restart the device, check its internet connection, clear app cache and data, and reinstall Peacock if the problem persists. Try those steps in order:

- DUAL-BAND WIFI 6 ROUTER: Wi-Fi 6(802.11ax) technology achieves faster speeds, greater capacity and reduced network congestion compared to the previous gen. All WiFi routers require a separate modem. Dual-Band WiFi routers do not support the 6 GHz band.
- AX1800: Enjoy smoother and more stable streaming, gaming, downloading with 1.8 Gbps total bandwidth (up to 1200 Mbps on 5 GHz and up to 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz). Performance varies by conditions, distance to devices, and obstacles such as walls.
- CONNECT MORE DEVICES: Wi-Fi 6 technology communicates more data to more devices simultaneously using revolutionary OFDMA technology
- EXTENSIVE COVERAGE: Achieve the strong, reliable WiFi coverage with Archer AX1800 as it focuses signal strength to your devices far away using Beamforming technology, 4 high-gain antennas and an advanced front-end module (FEM) chipset
- OUR CYBERSECURITY COMMITMENT: TP-Link is a signatory of the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA) Secure-by-Design pledge. This device is designed, built, and maintained, with advanced security as a core requirement.
- Close Peacock and other background apps. Fully exit the app, close other running apps if your device allows it, then reopen Peacock and try playback again.
- Restart the device. Unplug it or fully power it down, wait 20 seconds, then reconnect it or reboot. Peacock Help Center specifies this wait in its device troubleshooting instructions.
- Check the device’s internet connection. Confirm it is connected and can reach the internet; use the network steps above to check for congestion or a connection-speed shortfall.
Clear Peacock’s cache and data, then reinstall if needed
If relaunching and restarting do not help, use your device’s settings to clear Peacock’s cache and data. The precise menu path varies by device, so follow the device maker’s instructions. Clearing data may remove locally stored app information or require you to sign in again.
If playback still fails, uninstall Peacock and reinstall it from the device’s official app store. Peacock includes clearing cache and data, followed by reinstalling, in its video playback troubleshooting steps. Because these actions vary by platform, use the settings and instructions for your particular device.

Check whether your device and software are supported
If Peacock will not launch or playback continues to fail, compare your exact device model and software version with the current Peacock supported-device list. Requirements vary by platform and can change. At the time the page was accessed, it listed Chrome 125+, Firefox 127+, and Edge 125+ on Windows or Mac; Safari 17.3+ on Mac; Android 7.0+; and iOS 16+. It also listed Fire TV and Fire Tablet support for Fire OS 6+ while noting that Fire Max 11 Tablet was not currently supported, Apple TV HD (4th generation or later) with tvOS 18+, and Samsung Smart TV models from 2017 or later. Treat those version and model details as a dated snapshot, not a permanent compatibility guarantee; check Peacock’s live list for your device.

The steps above can help isolate common local causes, but they do not establish whether a specific failure is coming from Peacock, your network, or the playback device. The official guidance cited here does not confirm an active outage. Before contacting Peacock Support through Peacock Help, note:
