If a PagePeeker thumbnail is missing fonts or icons, first check whether the page’s font files, stylesheets, and icon assets are publicly reachable. Then confirm that you are looking at a current, completed capture—not a cached thumbnail or a placeholder. PagePeeker documents refresh and wait controls for eligible accounts, but its public documentation does not describe a specific font- or icon-repair setting or guarantee that either control will fix missing assets.
Why fonts or icons may be missing
A screenshot service must fetch and render a page and its assets from its own capture environment. A font or icon that works in your browser may depend on a local file, authenticated access, a private host, or another condition unavailable to a remote request. This is a general diagnostic possibility, not a documented explanation of PagePeeker’s asset-fetch behavior.

A thumbnail can also fail to show a change because the image is cached, or because the render has not completed and the response is a placeholder. PagePeeker says generated thumbnails are cached on its servers for several days. Its robot page says it attempts to fetch a site once every 5–7 days; that describes the service and is not a promise about an individual retry or a particular account’s configuration. - Open the public page without your developer setup. Test it in a private browser window or another environment where you are not already signed in. Check that the page and its assets do not depend on localhost, a private host, or an authenticated session.
- Inspect the page’s stylesheets and asset requests. Look for failed font-file, stylesheet, or icon-resource requests in the browser’s developer tools. Correct broken URLs, access restrictions, or deployment mistakes at the site or hosting layer.
- Check the actual icon source. An icon may come from an image, an SVG, a CSS sprite, or a font. Identify which resource supplies it, then verify that resource is available to a public request.
- Retest after the site-side fix. A successful fix on the live page may not immediately appear in a cached thumbnail, so establish whether the image you are viewing was newly generated.
These checks can identify problems with the page’s publicly served assets. PagePeeker’s public documentation reviewed here does not specify its renderer’s browser or operating system, its font inventory, or its cross-origin font-fetch behavior, so they do not establish the exact cause of a particular missing glyph.

Check whether the thumbnail is stale or the render is pending
PagePeeker’s V2 API documentation lists refresh as a premium option to regenerate a thumbnail and wait as a premium option that can wait for a generated thumbnail rather than immediately returning a placeholder. Both are account-dependent; check your entitlement and the current parameter behavior in the PagePeeker API documentation.
The documented wait parameter specifies a maximum number of seconds to wait before returning either the generated image or a placeholder. The allowed value depends on the request. Neither a refresh nor a longer wait is documented as a font or icon fix: these controls help investigate freshness or readiness, not repair unavailable assets.

Use response headers to identify the capture
For paid and unbranded accounts, PagePeeker documents these response headers. Record the values for the affected request; they can help distinguish an error, redirect, unexpected capture method, or older result.
| Header | What to use it for |
|---|---|
X-PP-Capture-Method |
Identify the reported capture method. |
X-PP-Capture-Time |
Record the reported capture time. |
X-PP-Final-URL |
Check whether the capture ended at a redirected URL rather than the URL you requested. |
X-PP-Hash |
Give support a capture-specific reference. |
X-PP-Timestamp |
Record the response’s timestamp when investigating whether the image is old. |
X-PP-Error |
Check whether PagePeeker reports an error for the capture. |
Header availability is documented for paid and unbranded accounts; do not assume every account or response includes them. See PagePeeker’s API documentation for current details.

When to contact PagePeeker
If the assets are publicly accessible and a current capture still omits them, contact PagePeeker with enough detail to identify the specific attempt. Its public materials do not provide a font-loading toggle, icon-font option, supported font-format list, or a documented font-specific repair procedure. The premium full-page capture service describes customization of page width and maximum height, compression, overlays, and wait times, but does not say those options fix missing fonts or icons. PagePeeker full-page capture information
- The target URL and approximate time of the request.
- The thumbnail size and whether you requested a refresh.
- The available
X-PP-*headers, especially the capture method, final URL, timestamp, and error. - A concise description of which fonts or icons are absent and whether the live public page displays them.
Use PagePeeker’s contact form. Do not include API credentials in a public message.

Or skip the browser setup
If you need a separate screenshot API to check the same page, ScreenshotNeo is an alternative to try first: it removes cookie banners, popups, and chat widgets before capture, bills only clean shots, and has the lowest paid plan listed here. It will not diagnose or guarantee a fix for PagePeeker’s rendering of a particular font or icon.
One GET request returns an image or PDF. For a quick check, replace the URL with your target page and set your API key:
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for options, including image format and capture behavior. Its clean-capture steps can be turned off; failed loads, blank pages, bot checks or CAPTCHAs, and cache hits are not billed, with the outcome identified in response headers. ScreenshotNeo also offers an MCP server with screenshot and PDF tools for AI agents. The Free plan includes 1,000 shots per month without a card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots.
