If OBS audio starts in sync but gradually slips out during a long YouTube Live stream, first check audio sample-rate consistency and whether separate devices are using independent clocks. If the same gap is present from the start and stays steady, measure it and apply a fixed OBS sync offset instead. A fixed offset cannot correct drift that keeps growing.
First, identify whether the problem is drift or a fixed delay
Listen or inspect the stream near the beginning and again when the problem becomes noticeable. Note whether the audio is early or late and whether the gap changes over time.

- Growing gap: Audio begins reasonably synchronized, then becomes increasingly early or late. Check sample rates and the audio capture chain before changing offsets.
- Steady gap: Audio is out by roughly the same amount throughout. This is consistent with a fixed latency and may be corrected with a measured sync offset.
This distinction is central to troubleshooting long-session desynchronization; a specialist guide discusses both patterns and recommends checking sample rates and device clocks (OBS-Studio.net’s long-session audio desync guide, published August 6, 2026).
Compare the local OBS output with YouTube
Make a local OBS recording and compare it with the YouTube live output or archive, if available. Check the beginning and the point where the mismatch is obvious. If the recording is already out of sync, investigate the OBS capture chain. If the local file is synchronized but the YouTube output is not, keep that distinction in your notes and check YouTube stream health and configuration as well. This comparison helps isolate the issue; by itself, it does not prove which component is responsible.

Match sample rates across OBS and audio devices
In OBS, open Settings → Audio and note the sample rate. Then check the operating-system audio settings or control panel for every device in the capture path: microphones, USB capture devices, mixers, and virtual cables. Set them consistently and confirm the channel configuration is appropriate for your sources.

48 kHz is a practical common setting. YouTube’s official live-stream health documentation recommends 44.1 kHz and 48 kHz, and identifies a sample-rate mismatch between primary and backup streams as a configuration issue (YouTube Live health-status documentation). If you use a backup feed, check that its audio settings match the primary feed.

Flowing or frozen RGB color rotation in a decent pace presents a greatly strong impression as a "light show" to your audience. Even a streaming equipment accessory will not be dull looking when video production.
Check whether multiple devices have independent audio clocks
If, for example, a USB microphone and a separate USB capture device each provide audio, they may be operating from independent clocks. For a test, route the relevant audio sources through a single interface or mixer and repeat the long-session check. This is a conditional way to reduce separate clock domains, not a guaranteed fix. Confirm sample rates and compare outputs before buying hardware.
Use an OBS sync offset only for a stable gap
If the audio delay stays roughly constant, measure it using the actual live scene and signal path. Then open OBS Advanced Audio Properties and adjust the sync offset for the relevant source based on that measurement. Recheck the output after the change.

Do not use an arbitrary millisecond value, and do not treat a fixed offset as a cure for a gap that continues to grow. If the timing changes over the session, return to the sample-rate and capture-chain checks.
Separate network symptoms from capture-clock drift
Check OBS → View → Stats for connection-dropped frames. OBS says rising dropped frames indicate an unstable connection to the remote streaming server or a bitrate the connection cannot sustain. Investigate network stability, bitrate, and the route to the ingest server if that counter rises; dropped frames alone do not establish that audio-clock drift is the cause.

OBS describes dynamic bitrate as an option for managing congestion, not a fix for its underlying cause; it can reduce stream quality (OBS Project’s Stream Connection Troubleshooting guide, dated September 30, 2024). Viewer buffering is also a separate symptom from OBS connection-dropped frames; see the OBS Stream Buffering Troubleshooting guide, dated June 9, 2021.
Check YouTube stream health and backup settings
Review YouTube’s stream health or configuration messages for audio sample-rate issues and primary/backup mismatches. Align the audio rates on both feeds if you use a backup. YouTube’s documented recommendations are configuration guidance; they do not establish a particular cause for every long-session sync problem.
What the India context does—and does not—change
The reviewed OBS and YouTube guidance does not establish an India-specific OBS sync setting or a country-specific cause of audio drift. Use the same capture-chain checks described above. If OBS Stats shows connection-dropped frames, investigate the actual connection and ingest route rather than attributing the issue to geography alone.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is to keep uploaded videos running as a 24/7 YouTube live stream, StreamNeo is a separate option from troubleshooting OBS capture: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. The cloud keeps the stream running without a computer, OBS, or home connection staying on. It plays uploaded videos; it does not stream a camera feed.
