Most Novigrad Dreaming progression problems come down to the quest branch or a missed interaction. Check the objective in your journal: if you chose to drive Sarah out, buy a Bundle of Burdock, put it in the haunted house’s oven, and cast Igni. If the quest still will not advance—or you are dealing with a crash or ladder problem—use the targeted checks below. The advice applies to the quest across versions; CD PROJEKT RED’s October 2026 Remastered notes checked do not list a specific fix for it.
Match the fix to the quest objective
Novigrad Dreaming has two resolutions at the haunted house: Geralt can make a deal with Sarah or drive her out. The deal route avoids the burdock-and-oven sequence; the expulsion route depends on it. Check your journal objective before repeating interactions or buying items.

“Get some burdock”: the merchant seems to have none
- Check that your active objective is the route that asks for burdock; the deal route does not need it.
- Look around the other side of the building for the herbalist before concluding the merchant is out of stock. One player reporting “He does not sell any burdock at all” later realized “the merchant is on the OTHER side of the building.” That is a community-reported explanation, not an official fix. “Need to get into the attic” or another objective will not advance
Follow the active journal objective and inspect the rooms and attic before deciding Sarah’s fate. If you have completed the prompted interactions but the journal remains stuck, check for a related quest that needs to be completed first. Geralt falls off the ladder
A player report says jumping onto the ladder helped when Geralt fell after one step. Treat this as a low-confidence workaround, not a confirmed fix; if it fails, do not assume the ladder has a universal solution. Player report

CD PROJEKT RED says The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered released on September 29, 2026, for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2; existing owners can upgrade for free within the same platform ecosystem.
