First check whether the images appear on the live page. If they are already missing there, the problem is page loading—not Firefox’s screenshot capture. If the page looks complete but the saved full-page image is missing content, troubleshoot the capture separately from the download step. Mozilla Support threads describe individual cases, not a confirmed defect or universal fix for current Firefox versions.
Find out where the images disappear
- Open the page normally and check the affected images before taking a screenshot. If they are missing on the page, reload it and investigate loading before changing screenshot settings.
- If the page looks right, take a full-page screenshot and inspect its preview before saving. Note whether the image is absent in the preview, the capture is cut off or blank, or the preview is correct but the file does not save.
- Record your Firefox version, operating system, the affected website, whether the images appear on the live page, and any relevant Console or Network errors. These details help distinguish site-specific behavior from a browser or download issue.
If images are missing on the live page
Check the Console and Network Monitor
Open Firefox’s Web Developer Tools and use the Web Console and Network Monitor while reloading the page. Look for image-related errors and check whether requests to the image host appear at all. A request that appears but fails is different from one that was never sent. These tools can help narrow down what happened, though an error alone may not identify the cause.

Test privacy extensions carefully
A Mozilla Support case involving thumbnails that loaded while larger images from another host did not raised privacy extensions as one possible cause of cross-site blocking. Test extensions individually on the affected site rather than turning off all protection permanently. If changing an extension has no effect, restore its original setting.

Some pages do not request every image immediately. They may start with a blank placeholder and assign the real image URL after scrolling or another page interaction. In a Mozilla Support thread about missing images, Support Volunteer jscher2000 explained: “The mechanism used to load the thumbnails is called ‘lazy loading.’” That describes one possible page behavior; it does not establish that lazy loading is the cause on your site or that Firefox has a universal fix for it.

- High refresh rate up to 75Hz
- 2 HDMI, 1 VGA, Audio out jack
- Build in speakers
- Full HD 1920x1080 resolution
- Sceptre Monitors are fully compatible with Windows 10
- On the live page, scroll through the affected section or perform the interaction that normally reveals the images.
- Check whether the images appear after that activity. If they do, take another screenshot after the content has loaded.
- If they remain absent, inspect the Console and Network Monitor during a reload and while interacting with the page. The site’s scripts, image host, or browser-reported request errors may provide useful clues.
If the page is correct but the capture is truncated or blank
An archived 2019 Mozilla Support discussion described white space and a full-page capture stopping partway down a page. Replies suggested testing extensions and hardware acceleration, and raised very large pages as a possible factor. These are leads from one historical case, not verified current causes, a universal screenshot-size limit, or instructions for every Firefox release.
- Try a shorter page. If it captures correctly while the longer page does not, note the difference; this does not by itself prove a size limit.
- Run Firefox Troubleshoot Mode, which can help test whether extensions, themes, or hardware acceleration are involved. If the symptom changes, investigate those factors one at a time rather than assuming which one caused it.
- If the issue persists, note your Firefox version and operating system when seeking help. Avoid applying an old, version-specific hardware-acceleration workaround as though it were guaranteed to work today.
If the preview appears but the image will not save
A correct preview with no saved file points to a different stage of the workflow than missing image content. A Mozilla Support exchange from the Firefox 133 era described opening the screenshot overlay, choosing “Save full page” or “Save visible,” and then using the button bar’s close, copy, or download actions.

- 100Hz Refresh Rate: With 75Hz refresh rate, images change faster and smoother than the standard, reducing screen tearing
- Fast Response Time: Fast response times reduce ghosting & blurring while transitioning pixels, always keeping the enemy & terrain precisely in focus during chaotic moments.
- Adaptive Sync: Adaptive Sync is a technology that closes the gap between the graphics card's and the monitor's refresh rates, eliminating image tearing and stuttering in the process.
- Built-in Speakers: Perfectly suited to work & gaming settings, built-in speakers deliver robust & smooth audio while saving space on your desk.
- Blue Light Shift: Blue Light Shift reduces blue light, allowing you to comfortably work, watch, or play applications without straining your eyes.
- Check whether the button bar appeared and use its download action if that is what you intended.
- Review Firefox’s download prompt and download-location settings. A save or download problem does not explain images missing inside an otherwise created screenshot.
If Firefox’s screenshot controls are missing
Historical Mozilla Support discussions mention screenshot-related preferences, Troubleshoot Mode, custom styles, and security software as possible areas to investigate. The preference names reported in an older thread include extensions.screenshots.disabled and screenshots.browser.component.enabled, but Firefox’s screenshot implementation and controls have changed over time.

Check current Mozilla guidance before changing about:config. If you do change a relevant preference, record its original value first, change only that setting, and restore it if it does not help. Do not assume a preference from an old support post applies to your Firefox version.

If your goal is to capture a page through an API rather than troubleshoot Firefox, ScreenshotNeo takes a screenshot or PDF from one GET request. Its capture can accept consent banners and remove known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before the shot; each step can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and the response identifies the page verdict and billing status. ScreenshotNeo also provides an MCP server for AI agents.
Example request, saving a WebP screenshot of the example URL:
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for setup and options. The Free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. Sign up for free: 1,000 screenshots a month, no card required.
