What’s actually slowing this PC down?

Start by identifying your console and writing down the full error code or message. A download that is paused, a locked PlayStation game, an update that has not been initiated, and a game that installs but will not launch need different checks. Try the platform-specific steps below before deleting or reinstalling anything.
Before troubleshooting, identify the failure
- Download will not start, is paused, or is slow: check the console’s connection and download queue.
- The game or download appears locked: check ownership, account access, and platform services.
- You cannot find an update: check whether the console offers a manual update option.
- The game downloaded but will not launch: use the platform’s launch and license checks.
- An error code appears: record it exactly, including any accompanying message, and look up that code in the console maker’s current support pages. Do not assume it means Metro Redux is corrupted.
Metro Redux here means Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux. PLAION lists both for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One S|X; its Metro games page directs unresolved issues to support.

Fix a paused or stuck Metro Redux download on Nintendo Switch
Nintendo’s instructions apply to Switch, Switch Lite, and Switch OLED. Confirm the console is online first. Some software pauses downloads while it is running, so save your progress and close open software from the HOME Menu.
- On the HOME Menu, select your user page.
- Open User Settings, then choose Update Download Progress.
- If the queue still does not move, restart the console. Let it reconnect to the internet before opening software that could pause the download again.
For a download that is moving slowly, test the console’s internet connection and troubleshoot the network speed. Nintendo’s stuck or slow download guide has the corresponding checks.

Start a Switch game update manually
- Connect the console to the internet.
- On the HOME Menu, highlight the Metro Redux game icon without launching it.
- Press + or −, then select Software Update > Via the Internet.
Nintendo also documents an automatic-update setting under System Settings > System. See its software update instructions.
Fix a locked PlayStation download or a game that will not start
If the game or download is locked
- Sign in with the account that bought the game. Check that account’s transaction history and, if access comes through PlayStation Plus, confirm the entitlement is still available.
- If another account owns the game, check the applicable sharing setup: Primary PS4 on PS4 or Console Sharing and Offline Play on PS5.
- Check PlayStation service status. If there is a service alert, wait for the affected service to recover before repeatedly retrying the download.
- Update the console system software, then restore licenses.

If Metro Redux is installed but will not launch
Restart the console, restore licenses, and check for a system software update. If those checks do not help, delete and re-download the game; PlayStation recommends trying a wired connection during the re-download if possible. On PS5, if the game is installed on USB extended storage, move it to internal storage and try again. PlayStation’s launch guide also provides Safe Mode cache and database options. For a disc copy, check that the disc is clean and properly inserted on PS4; on PS5, follow the relevant disc troubleshooting path.
Check for an Xbox One console update
If you suspect an Xbox system update is blocking downloads or installation, connect the console to the internet and open the guide. Go to Profile & system > Settings > System > Updates & downloads > Update console. This route appeared in Microsoft’s Xbox One guidance, but the support page opened for it redirected to generic Xbox Support, so menu labels may differ in the current interface.

This system-update check is not a Metro-specific fix. If it does not resolve the problem, note whether other games or downloads are affected and use current Xbox Support guidance for the exact error code. Do not delete saved data as a routine download-troubleshooting step.
Do not mistake the announced Redux update for an available fix
Deep Silver announced a free update for existing owners of Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux, scheduled for October 29, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The announcement describes native next-generation support and enhancements, but says full technical patch notes will be published at launch. As of October 3, 2026, that release date is still in the future; it does not establish a fix for a current download or update error. See the Deep Silver announcement and its Metro Redux page.

When to contact support
- Keep the exact error code and message, and note which steps reproduce the problem.
- For PlayStation support, include a screenshot or video if possible.
- If platform-level account, service, network, and system checks point to Metro Redux itself, open a ticket through PLAION’s Metro support page.
No Metro-specific console download outage, confirmed failure cause, or guaranteed fix is established by the platform guidance above. A precise code and a clear description of whether other downloads work will help support distinguish a console or account issue from a game-specific one.
