How LOTRO neighbor invitations work
LOTRO’s Neighbours feature does not work like a conventional invitation message. Each neighbor presents a special item, and placing that item on a housing hook in one of your homesteads serves as the invitation for that neighbor to visit. The official feature announcement describes the item-and-hook requirement.

The feature became available with Update 49.6 on September 30, 2026, through pre-purchase of The Wolves of Mordor, according to the update notes. If nothing appears, work through entitlement and delivery checks before treating it as a housing bug.

Verify that the account has a qualifying The Wolves of Mordor pre-purchase and check which edition was purchased. The expansion FAQ lists different launch-neighbor entitlements by edition: Standard allows selection of two neighbors, Collector’s Edition three, and Ultimate Edition all four launch neighbors. These are edition-specific entitlements, not a guarantee that every account receives every neighbor.

The same FAQ says individual neighbors are planned to become available account-wide for 1,495 LOTRO Points each in April 2027. Because purchase options and timing can change, confirm the current details on the official expansion FAQ.
If expected expansion supplies are missing
Some purchase deliveries have account-specific routing conditions. LOTRO’s FAQ says once-per-account deliveries, including Expedition Supplies, require a character with the Novice trait and go to the first server and character logged into after purchase. Check that character and server if you cannot find the expected supplies box. The FAQ does not establish that every neighbor invitation is delivered through Expedition Supplies, so use this check only when you are expecting that delivery.

- Confirm the delivery character: look on the first server and character you logged into after making the purchase.
- Check the Novice trait: the FAQ specifies that the receiving character must have it for once-per-account supplies.
- Refresh the account state: if you bought the expansion while logged in, log out and back in; the FAQ says this may be needed for account changes to take effect.

Check that the special item is actually displayed on a housing hook in one of your homesteads. Merely owning or carrying the item is not the documented invitation mechanism.

- Place the special item on a suitable hook, then check whether the neighbor becomes available to visit.
The housing FAQ covers general visitor permissions and hook types; it is not a Neighbours-specific bug guide. If the item cannot be placed, verify the hook type and consult that general housing guidance rather than assuming the invitation system is broken.

The official sources describe how the invitation is intended to work, but do not confirm a current, specific invitation bug or document a universal workaround. If the entitlement, delivery, and hook checks do not resolve a reproducible issue, report it through Standing Stone Games’ official bug-report channel or support.
