Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →If a VisualScraper full-page screenshot is too narrow, uses the wrong layout, or cuts off content, first check the page’s layout viewport width, then confirm full-page capture is enabled and inspect the exported file’s actual dimensions. Full-page capture extends the image vertically; it does not necessarily change the responsive layout chosen at the start. VisualScraper-specific setting names and behavior could not be confirmed, so verify equivalent controls in your version rather than relying on an assumed menu path.
What “page dimensions” means in a full-page screenshot
The browser viewport is the initial visible layout area. Its width can select a responsive breakpoint, so a page captured at a mobile width may rearrange content and produce a different result from the same page captured at desktop width. ScreenshotOne documents the relationship between viewport width, responsive rendering, and screenshot width, while noting that height behavior can vary by capture algorithm: ScreenshotOne’s full-page screenshot documentation.

Full-page mode generally extends the capture vertically to include document content below the initial viewport. That final image height is not the same thing as the initial viewport height. ScreenshotRun describes the viewport as the initial layout dimensions and full-page capture as extending to the scrollable document height: ScreenshotRun’s viewport and device emulation documentation.

Separate the two decisions: choose the width that should determine the page layout, then choose whether to capture only the visible viewport or the full document. Increasing output pixel density does not substitute for selecting the intended layout width.
#1 Best Overall
- CRISP CLARITY: This 23.8″ Philips V line monitor delivers crisp Full HD 1920x1080 visuals. Enjoy movies, shows and videos with remarkable detail
- INCREDIBLE CONTRAST: The VA panel produces brighter whites and deeper blacks. You get true-to-life images and more gradients with 16.7 million colors
- THE PERFECT VIEW: The 178/178 degree extra wide viewing angle prevents the shifting of colors when viewed from an offset angle, so you always get consistent colors
- WORK SEAMLESSLY: This sleek monitor is virtually bezel-free on three sides, so the screen looks even bigger for the viewer. This minimalistic design also allows for seamless multi-monitor setups that enhance your workflow and boost productivity
- A BETTER READING EXPERIENCE: For busy office workers, EasyRead mode provides a more paper-like experience for when viewing lengthy documents
Diagnose the mismatch before changing settings
- Decide what you want to capture. Use viewport capture for just the visible screen; use full-page capture when you need content below the fold.
- Set the intended layout width before capture. Compare the target CSS/layout width with the width visible in the exported image. A different width can switch the page to another responsive breakpoint.
- Treat viewport height separately. The initial height can affect viewport-relative elements and lazy-loaded content even when the final capture extends farther down.
- Inspect the exported file. Check its actual pixel width and height rather than inferring final dimensions from the browser’s initial viewport.
- Check where the page scrolls. Determine whether the main document scrolls, or whether content sits in a nested panel or other inner scroller. Also look for horizontal overflow.
- Check the capture implementation’s limits. Very long pages can exceed a browser or output-format limit; the applicable limit depends on the capture path and image format.
These are general browser-capture diagnostics, not verified VisualScraper controls. The available evidence does not identify the exact VisualScraper product version or establish its menu names, capture algorithm, nested-scroller behavior, or limits. Check the equivalent options in your installed version or its official support materials.
Troubleshoot by symptom
| Symptom | What to investigate | Next check |
|---|---|---|
| Wrong layout width | The initial viewport may have selected a different responsive breakpoint. | Confirm the intended CSS/layout width and inspect the exported image width. See ScreenshotOne’s explanation of viewport width. |
| Image is only one screen tall | Viewport capture may have been used, or the main document may not own the scrolling content. | Confirm full-page mode and check whether an inner element scrolls. VisualScraper’s handling of nested scrollers is not established by the available product-specific evidence. |
| Lower images or content are missing | Content may load only after scrolling. | Check whether the capture process scrolls before taking the image. Urlbox documents that its full-page process scrolls to the bottom by default to load lazy elements and determine page height; this is not a guarantee about VisualScraper: Urlbox screenshot documentation. |
| Wide content is clipped | The page may have horizontal overflow that is not included in the default measured width. | Check whether the capture tool offers an option comparable to measuring scrollWidth. Urlbox documents such an option; VisualScraper’s equivalent is unconfirmed at its screenshot documentation. |
| A very long capture fails or is cut off | The browser implementation or output format may impose a size constraint. | Read the error output and inspect actual file dimensions. Limits vary by implementation and format; do not assume another tool’s limit applies. |
Why “full page” may still not mean every visible pixel
Lazy-loaded content
Some pages do not request images or other content until the relevant area approaches the viewport. A capture that measures the page and renders once without triggering that behavior may omit lower content. Urlbox documents scrolling to the bottom before capture as part of its own procedure to load lazy elements and determine page height. Check whether the equivalent VisualScraper mode triggers scrolling; do not assume all full-page algorithms do.

Horizontal overflow and nested scrolling
A document’s layout width and its full horizontal scroll width can differ. Tables, code blocks, carousels, or app panels may extend beyond the document’s ordinary width, while some content scrolls inside an element rather than the page. Inspect the page in a browser and identify which element owns the scroll. Urlbox documents an option to measure scrollWidth for horizontally scrolling pages, but that vendor-specific behavior does not establish what VisualScraper supports.

Large dimensions and output constraints
The Chromium DevTools implementation at revision d1baa442c7d3ad9e065761dd35a370746229be19 checks full-page dimensions against a threshold of 128 × 1024 pixels and returns the error “Page is too large.” This is a detail of that specific Chromium code path, not a universal browser limit or a confirmed VisualScraper limit. Other capture implementations and formats can have different constraints; Urlbox documents format-specific limits in its screenshot documentation.

For an automated capture, ScreenshotNeo offers a website screenshot API: one GET request can return an image or PDF. Cookie banners, popups, and chat widgets are removed before the shot; bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are never billed. Its MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots, and the free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. See ScreenshotNeo.
For example, use this cURL request to capture a page as WebP:
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
Replace the target URL with the page you need to capture. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options and setup.
