Check the screenshot call first
A plain page.screenshot() captures the current viewport because fullPage defaults to false. Set it to true for the full scrollable page:

Check whether a clip rectangle is limiting the image
The clip option defines the output image area using x, y, width, and height. If your screenshot call includes clip, remove it for an unrestricted full-page capture or correct its bounds to match the region you intend to save. A clip rectangle can constrain what appears even when other screenshot options are set.
Distinguish page screenshots from element screenshots
An element screenshot is bounded by that element’s size and position; it is not a substitute for a page-level full-page screenshot. For a scrollable element, Playwright documents that only the content currently scrolled into view is visible in its screenshot. Use page.screenshot({ fullPage: true }) when you want the full scrollable page, and an element screenshot when you specifically want the element’s rendered bounds. See the ElementHandle API.

Do not confuse output scale with capture extent
scale changes pixel density, not whether the capture covers the full page. scale: 'css' produces one image pixel per CSS pixel; scale: 'device' produces device pixels and therefore a larger image on high-DPI displays. Neither setting enables full-page capture; use fullPage: true for that.

Use the same setting for full-page visual assertions
If the clipping occurs in a screenshot assertion, set fullPage: true on the assertion too:

Troubleshoot remaining missing content
- The image ends at the viewport: Verify the call is a page-level
page.screenshot()and includesfullPage: true. - The image has an unexpected rectangular boundary: Inspect the call for
clipand verify its coordinates and dimensions. - Only part of a scrollable section appears: Check whether you are capturing an element. Element screenshots of scrollable content show only the currently scrolled content.
- The image has more or fewer pixels than expected: Check
scale; it changes pixel density, not the documented page extent. - Content is absent despite those checks: Inspect the page structure and exact screenshot call. The documented option behavior does not establish a universal fix for nested scroll containers or content that changes during capture, so the appropriate remedy depends on that page.
For visual comparisons, keep the rendering environment consistent. Playwright notes that rendering can vary with the host operating system, browser version, settings, hardware, power source, and headless mode, and advises using the environment that created the baseline. See Visual comparisons.
