Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsThere is no universal prompt or post-production setting that reliably fixes flicker, malformed hands, or details that change between AI-generated frames. The most useful approach is to identify what is changing, check whether the problem is present in the source image, simplify the motion or scene, and test one change at a time. Image-to-video guidance from Runway and Google supports this workflow, but neither promises artifact-free results.
First identify what is changing
Watch the downloaded clip at normal speed, then inspect individual frames around the visible problem if needed. Note the time range and the type of change: brightness pulsing, camera movement, a hand changing shape, an object bending, or surface details appearing and disappearing. This helps distinguish a source-image flaw from motion or continuity problems; it is a practical diagnostic step, not a vendor-prescribed test.

- Flicker: brightness, color, texture, or detail fluctuates between frames.
- Distortion: a hand, face, or object changes shape or anatomy.
- Continuity drift: an object, clothing, or other detail changes even though the scene is meant to remain the same.
Check the source image before changing the prompt
In image-to-video generation, the input image establishes much of the composition, subject, lighting, and style. Runway warns that visible flaws such as blurry hands or faces may be intensified in the generated video; cues that imply movement can also conflict with the motion requested in the prompt. Inspect the image for blur, malformed anatomy, motion blur, and visual elements that suggest an unintended action. If you find a problem, correct or replace the image before repeating the same generation. See Runway’s image-to-video prompting guidance.
Simplify the motion and scene
Describe movement, not the image all over again
When the image already establishes what the subject looks like, use the prompt to describe what should move. State the action and, when relevant, the camera behavior, direction, and timing. Runway recommends clear, direct motion descriptions; Google’s Veo guidance likewise recommends high-resolution input images and specific motion descriptions. Avoid adding redundant appearance details that compete with the visual reference.

Keep a short clip focused on one scene
Remove competing instructions before adding more detail. Multiple actions, scene changes, or shifts in style can produce unintended results. Runway says to treat its Gen-4 generations as a single scene and lists 5- and 10-second clip lengths; these figures are specific to that model guidance and may change. Google also recommends focusing a short clip on a single moment and generating separate scenes individually. Read Runway’s Gen-4 prompting guide and Google’s Veo video-generation documentation.
Change one thing at a time: for example, keep the source image and shorten the action, or keep the action and replace the source image. Comparing results this way makes it easier to see which change helped, without assuming it will work in every generation.

Use continuity controls when your model supports them
Google’s Veo documentation describes image references, first-and-last-frame controls, and video extension as ways to guide a shot’s content or endpoints. These controls can constrain parts of a sequence, but they are not guarantees that every hand, object, or surface detail will remain unchanged. Google also cautions that reusing a seed can improve repeatability only slightly; it does not make generation deterministic. Check the current instructions for the model and interface you are using in Google’s video-generation documentation.

For a longer sequence, Runway documents a workflow in which you use one generation’s last frame as the image input for the next, then assemble the clips in an editor. This can help establish a deliberate handoff between clips, but it does not ensure visual consistency throughout them. See Runway’s guidance on extending a sequence.

Regenerate or redesign a shot that remains visibly broken
If an important hand or object is malformed, a negative prompt such as “no distorted hands” is not a dependable fix. Runway’s Gen-4 guidance recommends positive phrasing and warns that negative phrasing is unsupported and can produce unpredictable or opposite results. Other models may behave differently, so consult their own current documentation rather than assuming the same prompt rules apply.
If simpler prompts and a clean source still produce an unusable shot, consider changing the source frame, simplifying the action, making the hands less prominent, or choosing a different composition. These are practical alternatives, not proven repair techniques or guaranteed cures.

What post-production can and cannot be assumed to fix
There is no established universal denoise, interpolation, or inpainting workflow that reliably repairs malformed hands or missing and changing details in generated video. A research paper on per-frame editing supports the general observation that editing frames independently can introduce flicker, but it does not validate a consumer repair recipe for AI-generated clips. Avoid treating a particular editing effect as a dependable anatomy or continuity fix.

Quick Recap
| Workflow need | What to check |
|---|---|
| Guiding the image | Whether the tool accepts image references or first-and-last-frame inputs. Google documents these controls for Veo; availability depends on the product and interface. Google documentation |
| Directing movement | Whether prompts can focus on motion separately from the appearance already established by an image. Runway and Google both recommend clear motion direction. Runway; Google |
| Repeating a result | Whether seed controls are available and what limits the vendor states. Google says a seed may slightly improve repeatability, not guarantee deterministic output. Google documentation |
| Building a longer sequence | Whether the tool supports extension or reuse of a final frame, and how clips can be assembled. Runway documents using a generated last frame as the next input; Google documents video extension. Runway; Google |
| Managing scene complexity | What duration and scene-focus guidance applies to the selected model. Runway’s cited Gen-4 guide specifies 5- and 10-second clips; Google recommends focused short clips. Runway; Google |
