If services are online, check the game’s Crossplay setting for invite or matchmaking problems, then verify account access and work through your local connection. The cause depends on where the failure occurs; no single router change is a guaranteed fix.
1. Check whether EA or your platform is having an outage
Look at EA’s live server status page for EA SPORTS F1 25 and your platform’s services. If either service is unavailable, changing your router is unlikely to restore access; wait and check the status again later.

F1 25 cross-play is supported across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. In the game, open Settings > Crossplay and set Crossplay to Enabled. When it is disabled, EA says you will match only with people on the same platform.

EA lists F1 World, Ranked Mode, Unranked Mode, Local Multiplayer, Leagues, and Custom Lobbies among the online modes with cross-play. If an invitation or lobby still fails, check both players’ cross-play settings and confirm the service status before changing network settings. See EA’s F1 25 cross-play instructions.
3. Check platform and account access
On a console, make sure the required online subscription is active and check the platform’s service updates. If needed, follow the platform maker’s official cache-clearing instructions; the exact procedure varies by platform.

EA identifies several account conditions that can block online access: an account may be banned or suspended, deactivated or deleted, already in use elsewhere, or subject to child-account restrictions. Review the account status if the connection fails even though services are available. If you bought the PC version through Steam, EA directs players to Steam Support for additional connection help.

4. Restart your router and device
EA’s general connection advice is to turn off the router, unplug it, wait about a minute, then reconnect power and try again. Restart the device running the game as well. This is a basic troubleshooting step, not a guaranteed solution.

5. Test a wired connection, or improve Wi-Fi
If you are using Wi-Fi
If possible, connect the gaming device to the router with Ethernet and test again. EA says a hardwired connection can be more reliable than wireless; using a cable is an optional diagnostic test, not a requirement.
If you need to stay on Wi-Fi
- Check the router’s indicator lights for an apparent connection problem.
- Place the router in an open spot closer to the gaming device.
- Consider whether walls, large objects, nearby electronics, or neighboring Wi-Fi networks could be interfering with the signal.
- If the wireless network appears congested, ask your internet provider about choosing a less busy Wi-Fi channel.
These are general connection steps from EA’s connection troubleshooting guidance; they do not identify a particular F1 25 error or guarantee that a home-network change will resolve it.

6. Treat DNS as a later diagnostic step
EA notes that an unreliable DNS resolver can contribute to connection problems and mentions Google DNS and OpenDNS as optional third-party alternatives. EA does not operate those services, and changing DNS is not a guaranteed fix. If you try it, follow the instructions for your router or device and note the original settings so you can restore them if needed.
7. Contact support with details that narrow the problem
If you still cannot connect, use the F1 25 support hub to find connection help or contact EA. Include:
- Your platform (PC, PlayStation 5, or Xbox Series X|S).
- The exact error text, if one appears.
- When the failure happens: at launch, when accepting an invite, in a lobby, or during a race.
- Whether other online games work on the same connection.
- The steps you have already tried.
If other online services are also failing, your platform provider or internet provider may be the more relevant contact. EA’s published guidance does not establish an F1 25-specific NAT fix, required router ports, a minimum latency, or a guaranteed fix for a particular disconnect message; avoid changing advanced router settings on that assumption.
