First find out whether the alert never triggered or whether it triggered but the phone failed to show the notification. Check the alert rule and its history before changing phone settings: a logged trigger points to push delivery, while no logged trigger points to the symbol, rule, account, quote feed, or market session.
1. Confirm the alert is active and belongs to the account you are using
Open the app or website where you created the alert and verify its exact details. A small mismatch—such as the wrong ticker, an above-versus-below condition, or an expired alert—can make it appear that notifications have failed.

- Security: Check the ticker and, where relevant, the exchange or instrument.
- Condition and price: Confirm the target and whether the alert is set for a price moving above, below, or crossing it.
- Status and expiry: Make sure it is active and has not expired or been disabled.
- Account: Sign in to the same account that created the alert. TradingView’s phone-alert instructions say to use the account holding the alert and select “Notify in App” when setting up phone notifications.
For Yahoo Finance on Android, its official setup instructions say to look up a quote, open the Summary tab, tap Alerts, choose Create new price alert, enter the target, and tap Done.

2. Check the alert history to separate a trigger problem from a delivery problem
Look in the service’s alert log or history for the event. TradingView treats phone-notification troubleshooting and missing entries in its alert log as distinct issues in its help center.
#1 Best Overall
- Global Coverage: Supports major cities, small towns, and rural areas worldwide.
- Comprehensive Weather Updates: Automatically synchronizes data for temperature (high/low), humidity, atmospheric pressure, wind speed, and body temperature. Supports Celsius and Fahrenheit.
- Custom Animation: Personalize with a small cartoon animation in the lower-right corner.
- Crypto Prices: Powered by CoinGecko for real-time tracking of up to 10 cryptocurrencies, including price and daily changes.
- Multi-Market Coverage: Loop through up to 10 stocks, Forex rates, or gold prices with ease.
- The event is logged as triggered: The service registered the alert. Focus next on the app’s push setting, the phone’s notification permission, connectivity, and background restrictions.
- The event is not logged: A phone permission cannot explain an event the service did not record. Recheck the rule, account, instrument, quote data, and the timing conditions the platform uses to evaluate alerts.
3. Enable notifications in both the app and the phone’s settings
A push alert generally depends on two separate permissions: the service must be configured to send app notifications, and the phone’s operating system must allow that app to display them.
TradingView
When creating the alert, select “Notify in App.” TradingView’s mobile notification guidance also tells iOS users to open Settings > Notifications > TradingView and turn on Allow Notifications. On Android, enable push notifications in TradingView’s app settings.
Yahoo Finance
Yahoo Finance’s iOS instructions describe enabling push under the app’s Settings > Notifications and checking recent alerts in the Notifications tab. Its Android instructions direct users to notification preferences in their account’s notification management settings.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems4. Check connectivity and restrictions on background activity
If the service logged the trigger but the phone did not show it, check whether the app could reach the network and run in the background when the alert occurred. TradingView’s notification troubleshooting guide advises checking network access, device time, app updates, and available storage, and ensuring Wi-Fi or cellular access remains available while the device sleeps.
- Confirm Wi-Fi or cellular service works, airplane mode is off, and other apps can receive notifications.
- Consider whether a VPN, proxy, corporate firewall, Data Saver, or background-data restriction is interfering with the app.
- Check the phone’s date and time settings, update the app, and on Android update Google Play services.
- Review battery optimization, power-saving mode, background activity, and whether the app can use data while Data Saver is on.
- On Android, look for manufacturer-specific auto-start or background controls as well. Search Settings for the app under Notifications, Battery, Background activity, Data usage, or Auto-start; menu names and paths vary by phone model and OS version.
5. Check quote data, market session, and trigger timing
A price visible on screen does not necessarily match the data source or timing used to evaluate an alert. Check the security’s exchange and data status, whether its quotes are real-time or delayed, whether extended-hours data is available, and which session and trigger rules the service applies.
Compare the alert’s recorded trigger time with the relevant price source and market session. Data entitlements and alert rules differ by service, instrument, and exchange; the vendor help pages cited here do not establish current terms for every brokerage or security. Consult your own service’s instrument details and market-data terms rather than assuming the feed is real-time.
6. Contact support with details that can reproduce the problem
If the service records a trigger but the phone still receives no notification after these checks, contact the platform’s support team. Send the information through its secure support channel, not in a public post.
- Symbol and exact alert condition, including target and above/below or crossing rule.
- Trigger timestamp and time zone, plus a screenshot or export of the alert log.
- Phone model, operating-system version, and app version.
- Network conditions when the notification was expected and any relevant battery or background restrictions.
- Your account identifier, shared only through the platform’s secure support process.
Choosing an alert service when reliability matters
If you are comparing services rather than troubleshooting one alert, check the capabilities that determine whether they fit your use:
- Coverage for the specific instrument and exchange you follow.
- Whether data is real-time or delayed, and what entitlements are required.
- Available alert conditions and whether alerts remain available across devices.
- Delivery options such as push, email, or SMS.
- Whether alert history includes useful timestamps for diagnosing a missed event.
- How the phone app behaves under background and battery restrictions, and whether account limits apply.
The official guidance cited above explains setup and troubleshooting for particular apps, but does not provide a current cross-platform reliability benchmark. Do not treat a paid subscription or a switch to another app as a guaranteed fix for a notification-delivery fault.
