What’s actually slowing this PC down?

If Crimson Moon crashes, stutters, or will not launch on Steam, first check that the game is updated to Hotfix 1.0.2, then compare your PC with the game’s published Windows requirements and record exactly when the problem occurs. Team Metal says its September 30, 2026 hotfix includes PC crash and performance fixes, but those notes do not guarantee a fix for every player or establish a target frame rate.
Start with the symptom and your installed version
Before changing settings, distinguish a launch failure from a crash during play or persistently low frame rates. Note the exact error message, whether a game window appears, and whether the problem occurs in the same scene or encounter each time. Also record whether you were playing solo or in co-op.

- Won’t launch: Does the game exit before a window appears, or does it reach a loading screen first?
- Crashes during play: Record the scene, encounter, or action immediately before the crash, and whether you can reproduce it.
- Low FPS or hitching: Note where it happens and whether it is a sustained frame-rate problem or brief stutters, including around launch or loading.
Write down the game version shown in Steam, your Windows version, CPU, GPU, and RAM. That information helps separate a possible game-side issue from a PC that does not meet the listed requirements.

Check for Hotfix 1.0.2
Team Metal announced that Hotfix 1.0.2 was live on all platforms on September 30, 2026. Its notes report multiple PC crash fixes, including an animation-related crash and a crash during UI text processing. They also report work on launch-time shader compilation and load times, plus fixes for FPS drops or hitching in named areas and encounters. Check the game’s update status in Steam before troubleshooting against older information. Read Team Metal’s Hotfix 1.0.2 announcement.

The patch notes describe changes made by the publisher; they do not show that every crash or performance problem is resolved, and they do not provide independently measured FPS gains. If your problem resembles one of the situations named in the notes, update first and then check whether it still occurs. A report of launch-day known issues is older: it acknowledged crashes in combat and general gameplay, including some ray-tracing-related cases and specific encounters, but predates 1.0.2 and should not be treated as a complete current issue list. See the September 1 launch-day known-issues notice.
Compare your PC with the Steam requirements
The Steam listing gives these requirements for the Windows 11 PC build. They are developer-listed tiers, not a promise of a particular resolution or frame rate. Compare your exact CPU, graphics card, memory, operating system, and available storage before drawing conclusions about an individual crash or low-FPS report. Check the Crimson Moon Steam listing.

Use the failure pattern to guide the next step
The game exits before a window appears
Confirm the installed version and compare your operating system and hardware with the minimum tier. Record any error text exactly rather than paraphrasing it. If the game is current and the issue remains reproducible, send the version, system details, and what happens before it exits to the official support channel.

The crash happens in a particular scene or encounter
Write down the location and steps that reliably lead to the crash, and whether it happens in solo play, co-op, or both. The old launch-day notice is not evidence that a named launch issue remains current after the later hotfix. Report whether the crash continues on 1.0.2 rather than assuming the patch did or did not fix it.
FPS drops or stutters in a particular area
Team Metal’s 1.0.2 notes name FPS-drop or hitching fixes in Forsaken Streets, Ramshorn Keep, Elk Grove Academy, the Prologue, and Warden and other boss encounters, among other situations. They also report improvements to shader compilation at launch intended to reduce its time and improve load times. If your issue occurs in one of those contexts, note the exact location and whether it persists after updating; the notes do not establish a universal fix or a measured frame-rate increase.

Send an actionable report if the problem continues
Team Metal directs players with technical issues to its Support channels and invites feedback through official community channels. Include enough detail for someone to identify and reproduce the problem:
- Game version shown in Steam and Windows version.
- CPU, GPU, and installed RAM.
- Exact error text, if any, and whether the game opens before failing.
- Scene, area, or encounter; repeatable steps; and whether it happens solo, in co-op, or both.
- Whether the problem persists after Hotfix 1.0.2.
Use Team Metal’s official support route for unresolved technical issues: Team Metal Support. Its official community channels are also listed by the publisher: Team Metal.
Keep save issues separate from crash and performance diagnosis
If the concern is a save that behaves differently after switching devices, treat it as a save-integrity issue rather than evidence of an FPS or crash fix. In its September 30 announcement, Team Metal said save issues were still under investigation, recommended using one device where possible, and suggested PC players create a local save backup as an additional precaution. Avoid deleting save data while diagnosing a launch or performance problem.
