Crimson Moon lists full controller support for Xbox and PlayStation controllers on Steam, but that does not guarantee every setup or control layout will work as expected. There is no confirmed universal fix for controller detection problems. First identify what is failing, update the game, and check the developer’s current Known Issues and patch notes; report a reproducible problem through official support if it remains unresolved.
Identify the controller problem first
“Controller issues” can mean several different things, and the available official information does not establish one cause or fix for all of them. Pin down which description fits before changing settings:
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
- No input: The game does not respond to any controller buttons or sticks.
- Wrong prompts or layout: The game responds, but the displayed button prompts or button mapping do not match your controller or chosen layout.
- Menu input failure: The controller works in gameplay but becomes unresponsive in a menu, or cannot exit a remapping screen.
- Awkward button layout: The controller is detected, but a chosen mapping makes an action difficult to use alongside the camera or another control.
Note your controller model, whether it is connected by cable or wirelessly, your operating system, and the game version. These details help distinguish the symptom and make a useful support report.

- Update Crimson Moon through Steam. Then note the installed version or build shown by the game or Steam, if available.
- Review the developer’s Steam news and patch notes. Look for a fix that matches your symptom, rather than assuming that any input-related fix applies to every controller problem.
- Check the Known Issues page. The developer directs players to its issue information and support route for technical reports.
The official update material includes a prior fix for a problem that could prevent a player from exiting the key-remap screen with a controller. That is relevant if your problem occurs in that screen; it does not confirm a general fix for controllers that are not detected.

Check remapping status before relying on it
Controller button remapping is update-dependent. The developer said it had moved the feature from Hotfix 1.0.2 to Patch 1.1, while describing controller customization as planned quality-of-life work. Because plans and releases can change, check the latest announcement and your installed build before assuming remapping is available. The Steam store’s Crimson Moon listing identifies full controller support for Xbox and PlayStation controllers and recommends playing with a controller; that support statement does not establish that a particular remapping feature is in your current version.
Separate a layout problem from a detection failure
A player in the Steam support discussion reported difficulty moving the camera with the right stick when sprint was mapped to Circle/B, because reaching that button and keeping a thumb on the right stick at the same time was awkward. This is one player’s control-layout report, not an official diagnosis or evidence of a widespread defect.

- Compatible with Windows and Android.
- 1000Hz Polling Rate (for 2.4G and wired connection)
- Hall Effect joysticks and Hall triggers. Wear-resistant metal joystick rings.
- Extra R4/L4 bumpers. Custom button mapping without using software. Turbo function.
- Refined bumpers and D-pad. Light but tactile.
If your controller is detected and the difficulty is limited to a particular button combination, describe the mapping and the actions that conflict. That is different from a controller that provides no input at all, and should be reported as a layout or ergonomics issue rather than a detection failure.
Report an unresolved or reproducible issue
If updating the game and checking the official issue information do not resolve the problem, use the developer’s Support site or the support direction in the Steam discussion. Include enough detail for someone else to identify the same behavior:

- Rechargeable wireless pro controller designed for Steam for Windows 11/10 & Steam Deck
- Dedicated buttons for quick access to Steam menus
- Capacitive Touch Thumbsticks, gyro sensor, programmable buttons, & more
- Also functions as an XInput controller for Windows 11/10 (wired mode only)

- The exact symptom and where it occurs, such as gameplay, a menu, or the remapping screen.
- Your controller’s make and model, and whether it is connected by cable or wirelessly.
- Your operating system and the game version or build.
- The button layout involved, if applicable, and clear steps that reproduce the issue.
These are practical details to include, not a claim that the developer requires every field. The official material does not verify a particular Steam Input toggle, driver reinstall, replacement controller, cable, adapter, or repair tool as a fix for Crimson Moon controller problems.
