Start with the symptom and any error code

Why is my Xbox screen black?
A blank screen or “no signal” message can come from the display input or HDMI connection, not necessarily a failed console. Check the simple parts of the signal path before considering repair.

- Reseat the HDMI cable at both the console and display, and inspect it for visible damage.

What should I do if an Xbox update is stuck?
Note the full error code, if one appears, then consult Microsoft’s system-update troubleshooting. The correct next step depends on the code and current Xbox instructions; do not apply an update file or reset procedure based only on a similar-looking symptom.
Microsoft Community guidance has described an offline update path requiring a Windows PC and a USB flash drive of at least 6 GB. Xbox controller buttons or input are not working
