Check for a follow-up system update
OPPO’s ColorOS 14 manual says system updates can fix known issues and improve performance and stability. On ColorOS 14, the manual’s route is Settings > About device > tap the version number to check for updates. Update affected apps and review storage
If one app is crashing or behaving badly, check for an app update before changing system settings. Also review available storage and remove or move files only if you need to make room. Google’s general Android guidance warns that a phone can start having issues when less than 10% of storage is free; this is not a ColorOS-specific threshold or guarantee. If apps crash or the phone lags, check for a downloaded app
Safe Mode temporarily turns off downloaded apps, which can help test whether one is involved. The steps for entering Safe Mode vary by OPPO model, so follow instructions for your exact device rather than assuming one button sequence works for all phones.

- Find the Safe Mode instructions for your OPPO model and enter Safe Mode.
- Check whether the crash or lag still occurs while downloaded apps are disabled.
- If the problem goes away, restart normally and remove recently downloaded or updated apps one at a time, checking the phone after each removal.
If the symptom remains in Safe Mode, a downloaded app is less likely to be the cause; continue with system-level checks or contact OPPO support. If the battery drains faster than usual
Check battery usage for an app with unusually high use, especially one that was recently installed or updated. Update it, or restrict its background activity if the phone offers that control and you are comfortable with the effect on notifications or background syncing. Change one thing at a time so you can tell whether it helped.

Google says Pixel phones may use extra battery while new software is downloaded and optimized, and advises investigating if unusual drain continues after a few days. That observation is specific to Pixel devices; it does not establish how long an OPPO phone should take to settle after a ColorOS update. If drain is severe or persistent, check your model-specific OPPO guidance or contact support.
When a factory reset is worth considering
A factory reset is a later step, not a first response to an update problem. It deletes apps and their associated data, and it may not fix a system-wide software bug. Before proceeding, back up anything you need and confirm you can restore your important data and sign back in to your accounts. Can you downgrade ColorOS?
Do not assume there is a safe, general rollback procedure for your phone. The official ColorOS firmware page describes historical downloads as supporting ColorOS 7 and below; it does not establish a current downgrade route for every model or build. Firmware changes can depend on the exact device and regional software, so contact OPPO support for your model and build before attempting a downgrade or flashing firmware.
