For a puzzle you can’t solve, use a community walkthrough; for the specific problem where remapping the mouse buttons makes selection impossible, reset the game’s Controls file or connect a gamepad. Other technical problems need a different approach: check the game’s listed PC requirements and version, then contact DreadXP or report the bug through the Steam community hub rather than applying an unrelated fix.

Mouse buttons swapped and now selection does not work?
A narrowly documented problem occurs when swapping the left and right mouse buttons leaves the player unable to select anything or start the game. On August 8, 2023, developer account pluberski replied that deleting the Controls file in the save-data folder hard-resets the controls; connecting a gamepad is an alternative way to restore default controls.

- Find the game’s save-data folder. In Windows, open
%AppData%, then go toLocalLowJohn SzymanskiMy Friendly Neighborhood. - Locate the Controls file. Find the file with “Controls” in its name and delete that file. This resets the remapped controls; it is not a general reset for game saves.
- Alternatively, connect a gamepad. The developer said this can be used to default the controls. The source does not specify a particular controller model.
- Relaunch and check selection. Confirm that you can select menu items before changing the mouse-button mapping again.
This remedy is specific to the remapped-controls failure described above. It is not an established fix for crashes, launch failures, save corruption, or other input problems.
Reporting a bug or asking for official technical help
For bugs or feedback, the game’s Steam community hub surfaces an MFN Bugs & Feedback thread and directs players to the publisher’s Discord. For technical problems that need official assistance, Steam’s support listing gives DreadXP’s contact as [email protected].

When reporting a problem, describe what you were doing, what happened, and whether it happens repeatedly. Include your operating system and the game version shown by your installation. These details help support staff distinguish a reproducible game issue from a setup-specific one; they do not guarantee a particular diagnosis or fix.

Check the listed PC requirements before blaming compatibility
Steam’s game listing gives the following PC specifications. They are published requirements, not a diagnosis of an individual computer.

These figures come from Steam’s game listing and are not a guarantee that every PC meeting the minimum will run the game without problems. Steam separately says its client requires Windows 10 or later beginning January 1, 2024. That is a Steam-client requirement, distinct from the game’s listed minimum operating system.
Check the current game version as well as the requirements before treating a symptom as a hardware or compatibility issue. The listing and requirements can change; consult the current Steam store page for its latest details. If your symptom is a crash, failure to launch, or a save problem, the available guidance here does not establish a specific fix: contact DreadXP or use the community bug-reporting route instead of trying the Controls-file reset.
