If your mechanical keyboard will not connect, keeps disconnecting, or misses certain keystrokes, first identify whether the problem affects the whole board or only a few keys. Then check its connection type—USB, Bluetooth, or a dedicated USB receiver—and test the keyboard on another computer. The right reset, software fix, or repair depends on the exact model, so avoid model-specific shortcuts until you know which keyboard you have.
First identify the symptom and connection type
Note the keyboard’s make and model, your computer’s operating system, and how the keyboard connects. Separate these symptoms before changing settings:

- No keys work or the board disappears: Focus first on power, the cable or wireless connection, receiver, computer, and software.
- The keyboard repeatedly disconnects: Check for a loose connection, low power, pairing trouble, distance, or possible interference.
- Only one or a few keys fail: Check for surface debris and test those keys again after cleaning.
Testing the board on a second computer can help narrow the cause: if the problem follows the keyboard, a keyboard-side issue becomes more plausible; if it happens only on the original computer, investigate that host, its port, settings, or software. If the whole keyboard fails or keeps disconnecting
Wired USB keyboards
- Unplug and reconnect the cable firmly at both ends. If it is detachable, check that the keyboard-side connector is seated.
- Connect the keyboard directly to the computer, not through a USB hub or extension.
- Try another USB port. If possible, test the keyboard and cable on a second computer.

Bluetooth keyboards
- Make sure the keyboard is switched on and adequately charged or has working batteries.
- Confirm Bluetooth is enabled on the computer and that the keyboard is paired. If pairing appears lost, use the manufacturer’s instructions for that model to reconnect it.
- Move the keyboard closer to the computer and reduce possible nearby sources of wireless interference.
For its K810 Bluetooth keyboard, Logitech lists low battery, metal surfaces, and radio-frequency interference as possible reasons for connection loss, and recommends moving closer and away from other electrical devices. Keyboards using a USB receiver
Check that the receiver is firmly connected and try a different USB port, preferably with no hub or extender in between. Logitech’s receiver troubleshooting flow for Windows also recommends checking whether the receiver appears in Device Manager, checking Unifying software when applicable, and testing the receiver on another computer. Check the host if the problem occurs only on one computer
If the keyboard works normally on another computer, review the original computer’s USB port, settings, and keyboard or device software. One narrow Windows case is a temporary keyboard or HID delay immediately after boot: Corsair documents disabling USB selective suspend as a targeted troubleshooting step. If one key or a small group of keys does not register
- Turn the keyboard off or unplug it before cleaning.
- Use a soft brush or light compressed air to remove visible surface debris. Keep moisture to a minimum and do not let liquid reach the circuit board.
- Reconnect the keyboard and test the affected keys. If possible, repeat the test on another computer.
Corsair’s cleaning guidance cautions against liquid reaching the printed circuit board. Corsair keyboard cleaning instructions A soft brush or air duster can help with surface debris, but cleaning will not fix a failed switch, damaged connector, faulty receiver, or circuit-board problem.

If the same key remains unreliable after cleaning and a second-system test, the appropriate next step depends on the switch type, whether the board supports hot-swapping, and its warranty and service guidance. Do not assume a switch can be replaced without checking the exact model.

Reset combinations are not universal. Corsair lists different reset steps for different keyboard families and advises seeking model-specific support if a keyboard is not listed. Likewise, use firmware updates or configuration software only when the manufacturer documents the process for your exact model. For example, Corsair’s K70 MAX recalibration procedure applies to that model’s actuation keys; it is not a general calibration step for ordinary mechanical switches or keyboards from other brands. Software not detecting a keyboard does not always mean the hardware has failed. When to seek model-specific support
Contact the manufacturer or a qualified repair service if the fault persists after safe connection checks, cleaning where relevant, and testing on another computer. Have the exact model, connection type, operating system, affected keys, and results of your tests ready. Those details help establish whether the next step is a supported reset, warranty service, or hardware diagnosis; they also prevent buying a cable, receiver, switch, or repair tool that may not be compatible.
