Capture the whole page in Chrome on Mac
- Open the page in Chrome and open DevTools with Command+Option+I, or right-click the page and choose Inspect. To activate Inspect mode, Chrome documents Command+Option+C on macOS. Chrome DevTools keyboard shortcuts
- Turn on the device toolbar using the Toggle device toolbar button in DevTools. Chrome’s Device Mode guide describes this as the starting point for its full-size capture command. Chrome DevTools
- Open More options in the device toolbar and select Capture a full size screenshot. Do not choose the similarly named Capture screenshot if you need below-the-fold content.
- Wait for Chrome to create the image, then check the saved screenshot. Confirm that the portion previously missing appears in the image.
Capture one element or a selected area instead
Capture a DOM node
- Open DevTools and select the Elements panel.
- Choose the element in the page tree. If it is hard to identify, use the element picker and click the item on the page.
- Open the Command Menu with Command+Shift+P, type Capture node screenshot, and select that command. Chrome’s release notes describe node screenshots as including the full node, even content below the fold. Chrome 89 release notes

Capture a rectangular region
- Keep DevTools docked to the browser window; area capture does not work when DevTools is undocked.
- Open the Command Menu with Command+Shift+P, type screenshot, and choose Capture area screenshot.
- Drag over the region to capture. This is a selection, not a full-page capture.

If the full-size command still produces a crop
The correct command is the first check, but Chrome’s documentation does not promise that it resolves every page-specific crop. Record what you see and narrow down the page structure and state rather than assuming every crop has the same cause.
- Verify the command used. If you ran Capture screenshot, repeat the capture with Capture a full size screenshot.
- Check where the missing content lives. A page may place content inside its own scrolling panel instead of the main document. If only that panel is needed, try selecting its element and using Capture node screenshot.
- Check whether content appears only after an action. Expand the relevant section, load the content, or reach the state you want before capturing. A full-size command cannot by itself establish that hidden or interaction-dependent content has appeared.
- Use the right scope. Use the full-size command for the page, node capture for one element, and area capture for a rectangle.
- Record enough detail to reproduce it. Note the Chrome version, exact command, page URL or a reduced reproduction, and whether the missing content belongs to the main document or a nested scrolling region.
A Chromium issue report describes one Mac full-page capture that resized the viewport while laying out a page for capture. That individual report was closed as obsolete in September 2026 after waiting for reporter clarification; it does not establish a universal cause for cropped screenshots. Chromium issue report
