If Call of Duty: Mobile will not download, install, update, or open, first check that your device meets Activision’s stated minimum requirements and that you are installing the game from Google Play or the Apple App Store. Then work through the fix for the stage that is failing: store download, device storage, app launch, or a separate in-game content download. These problems can look alike, but the right fix depends on whether the store cannot install the app, the game cannot start, or the game is downloading content after an update.
Check device compatibility and use the official store

These are the minimums stated in Activision’s guide, not a guarantee that every device meeting them will run the game smoothly. They are a useful first check when the store reports incompatibility or you are deciding whether to continue troubleshooting. Check your device’s operating-system version and RAM, then search for Call of Duty: Mobile in its official store and use the store’s Install or Update control. If the store says the device is incompatible, compare its requirements with the table before trying other fixes. Do not install an unofficial APK or use a third-party download source.
Keep the failing stage in mind as you work. If the app does not appear as installable in the store, start with compatibility. If the store begins downloading and then stalls or fails, check connection and storage. If installation completes but tapping the app does not get you into the game, use the launch and crash steps below. “I’m having trouble downloading the app”
Use these steps when the store download is stalled, repeatedly fails, or does not begin. Retry the download after each step so you can tell whether the change helped. This sequence starts with the connection and device, then addresses the Android store app specifically.
- Check the connection. Activision recommends a strong Wi-Fi connection. If Wi-Fi is unreliable, restart the router if you can access it, or try mobile data. A router restart is only a troubleshooting step for an existing connection; you do not need to buy new networking equipment to follow Activision’s guidance. After changing the connection, reopen the store and retry the download.
- Restart the phone or tablet. Restarting gives the device a fresh start before you retry. After it starts again, reopen Google Play or the App Store and try the same install or update. If the download proceeds, allow it to finish before moving on to other fixes.
- On Android, clear Google Play Store cache and data. Open the device’s Settings, find Apps or the equivalent app-management screen, select Google Play Store, open its storage options, then clear its cache and data. Menu labels vary across Android devices, so look for the app’s storage controls if the names differ. Return to Google Play and try again. Activision specifically recommends clearing Google Play Store cache and data for Android download trouble; do not substitute clearing the game’s cache for this store-specific step.
- If the problem continues, check the device’s available storage. A download or installation can fail because of space constraints even when the device appears to show some free space. Follow the storage steps below rather than assuming the displayed amount will be enough.
On iPhone or iPad, the download guidance is to check the connection and restart the device, then retry through the App Store. Activision’s listed steps do not call for clearing App Store data. If the basic steps do not resolve the issue, confirm the device meets the requirements and has room for the install before escalating.
Activision’s listed download troubleshooting steps do not establish that a particular error code means there is an outage or a specific fault. An error alone is not enough to determine whether the store, connection, device, or service is responsible. If the same error persists after these checks, use Activision’s support options rather than guessing at its cause.
“I’m getting a message saying my device doesn’t have enough storage”
Free space on the phone or tablet itself. Activision warns that an insufficient-storage message may appear even when the device reports some free space, and its guide does not give a universal amount of space that guarantees installation. Make changes, then retry the store install or update. A number shown as available space is not a promise that a particular download or installation will succeed, so use the warning and the result of a retry as your guide.

Free space on Android
- Review the apps taking up the most room. Activision suggests sorting apps by size and clearing the cache for large apps. This targets cached files in other apps, not Call of Duty: Mobile’s game data.
- If your device offers a system-wide cached-data clearing option, you can use it to remove cached files. Not every device exposes the same controls, so this option may not be present under the same name.
- Uninstall apps you no longer use or remove large files you do not need. Then return to Google Play and retry the install or update.
Free space on iPhone or iPad
- Open the device’s iPhone or iPad Storage settings and review what is using space.
- Delete apps you no longer use or remove other large files as needed. Retry the App Store action after making room.
- Activision’s guide also points to managing iCloud backups. That is a separate storage-management option from freeing space on the device itself; do not treat it as a substitute for checking device storage.
Because the support guide names no fixed free-space target, avoid treating any one number as sufficient for every device or update. Check the device’s storage again after removing items, then retry. If the warning remains, free additional space using the same options rather than relying on a universal gigabyte figure that Activision does not provide.
The app installed, but it will not open, freezes, or crashes
Use the platform-specific order below. These steps address an app that has already installed but does not run normally; they are different from fixing a stalled download in the store. Update the game through its official store; operating-system update menus and exact labels vary by device. Retry opening the game after each step, where practical, so you can see whether the change resolved the launch problem.
Android
- Restart the device and try opening the game again.
- Check Google Play for a game update and install it if available. A current app version can be a distinct requirement from the device’s operating-system version.
- Check the device settings for an available system update and install it. The exact settings path varies among Android devices.
- Clear the game’s cache in the device’s app settings, then reopen the game. This is the game-cache step for launch trouble; for a Play Store download that will not begin, Activision separately recommends clearing Google Play Store cache and data.
iPhone or iPad
- Restart the device.
- Check the App Store for a game update and install it if available.
- Check the device settings for an available iOS update and install it.
- If the issue remains, delete and reinstall the game. Activision says deleting the iOS app will not delete game progress or other game data; sign in with the same account after reinstalling to reinstate them.
Activision’s stated assurance about retaining progress applies to deleting the iOS app and signing back into the same account. Do not assume that deleting app data or reinstalling by a different method has the same effect. If you cannot reach the game’s main lobby, the in-app question-mark help is not accessible; use Activision’s support site instead.

First check the store for the game’s app update: Google Play on Android or the App Store on iOS. Use the store’s Update control when one is available. If an update is stalled, apply the relevant download and storage steps above rather than treating it as a separate kind of installation.

An app-store update and an in-game download are not always the same step. The store updates the app; after it is installed, the game may need to download content from inside the app. So a completed store update does not necessarily mean every map or other game resource has finished downloading. If the game launches and displays an in-game download, check its Download Manager and let the relevant download finish.
How Version 35.0 handled Android content
Activision’s Version 35.0 notes, dated December 8, 2025, provide a specific historical example. After that update, Android players needed to redownload some content through the in-game Download Manager. The Isolated Battle Royale map was unavailable until its download finished, and HD audio remained lower quality until its download finished. The notes said the corresponding content was included in the base iOS app build for Version 35.0.
This example explains why a completed store update may be followed by an in-game download; it describes Version 35.0, not necessarily the current build. It should not be used to conclude that every Android update requires the same redownload, that iOS never needs in-game downloads, or that the same map and audio behavior applies to later versions. Check what the game itself is asking to download rather than assuming the historical steps apply unchanged.
Activision’s 2025 notes listed approximate post-optimization app sizes of 1.6 GB on Android and 3.3 GB on iOS for Version 35.0. Those dated figures are not a promise about the size of a current download, and they do not establish a universal storage target for a future install or update. Use the current store listing and the device’s own storage message for the task at hand.

The download or game still fails after these steps
