If text is simply too small, change Pixel’s font or display size; if only one app looks blurry, troubleshoot that app; if the whole screen has abnormal color, lines, flicker, cracks, or dead pixels, check for updates and seek support if the problem persists. Blur by itself does not prove the display is damaged.
First identify what looks blurry

Make text and interface items larger
Pixel has two separate controls: Font size changes the size of words, while Display size changes interface items. Open Settings > Display & touch > Display size and text, then adjust the relevant slider. Google’s display settings documentation describes these as separate display controls: Manage screen & display settings on a Pixel phone.

If text is hard to read because it is too small, try Font size first. If buttons, icons, and other interface elements also need to be larger, adjust Display size as well. The precise labels or menu placement can vary with Pixel model and Android version.

Zoom content inside an app or page
When the text or image is small only within a particular page, try double-tapping or pinching out on the content. These gestures work only on pages and in apps that support them; they do not change the phone’s general text or interface size. See Google’s instructions for getting around on a Pixel phone.

Fix a problem limited to one app
If other screens look normal but one app appears blurry or behaves incorrectly, use app-level steps before assuming the display is faulty. Google recommends restarting the phone, checking for Android and app updates, and then force-stopping the app. Clearing the app cache is another option. Follow Google’s instructions for fixing an installed app that isn’t working.
- Restart the Pixel.
- Check for Android updates and update the affected app from Google Play.
- Open Settings > Apps, select the affected app, and choose Force stop. Menu labels can differ by Android version.
- From the app’s settings page, look under Storage & cache and choose Clear cache, if available.
Do not choose Clear storage or Clear data casually: Google warns that this erases data saved in the app. Use it only if you understand what may be lost and have any needed sign-in details or backups.

Use Simple View for a larger, simpler interface
Simple View is an accessibility option that provides larger text and icons, a simplified home-screen layout, three-button navigation, and higher touch sensitivity. To enable it, go to Settings > Accessibility > Quick Access > Simple View. Google says turning Simple View off restores the phone’s previous font, display, and layout settings. Google identifies flickering, a green tint, horizontal or vertical lines, a screen that will not turn on, and cracks as possible signs of a hardware issue. Cracks and dead pixels are physical screen concerns. For flickering, tint, or lines, restart the phone and check for a system update; Google specifically recommends checking for an update for these appearance symptoms. If a whole-screen problem continues, or the screen is visibly damaged, contact Google Pixel support about screen appearance issues or arrange repair.

Blur alone is not enough to diagnose hardware failure. Google’s general Pixel troubleshooting guidance also includes restart, updates, and Safe Mode as software checks; see Get help with your Pixel phone. Some OLED screens can show color shifts when viewed at an angle, as described in Google’s guidance on protecting and understanding your Pixel screen; that observation is different from diagnosing persistent blur or damage.
