Start by checking which apps are using battery, then investigate unusually high foreground or background activity. ColorOS does not have one confirmed fix or a universal “wait this long” period for post-update drain; the right next step depends on your OPPO model, software build and battery-usage readings.
Check which apps are using battery
Open the battery-usage screen and compare the apps listed there with what you have actually used recently. The list can help identify an app worth investigating, but it cannot by itself prove that the ColorOS update caused the drain. OPPO notes that “Since each application is used differently each day, the power consumption varies accordingly.”

Find the screen for your ColorOS version
- ColorOS 14 and above: Go to Settings > Battery, then scroll down to Battery usage.
- ColorOS 5.1 and above: Go to Settings > Battery > Battery usage by app.
These paths come from OPPO Support’s battery-usage instructions. OPPO cautions that settings paths and screen images can differ between phones. If the labels do not match, search within Settings or consult support information for your specific model.
Interpret foreground and background activity
Foreground use generally reflects an app being visible on screen; background activity is work performed while you are using something else or the screen is off. High background use is a reason to investigate an app, not automatically a fault: syncing and notifications may require it. Consider whether the amount of activity makes sense for how you use that app.

Reduce excessive app activity carefully
If one app stands out as using unusually more battery than your recent use would explain, update it if an update is available. You can also restrict its background activity if your phone offers that control and you are comfortable with the trade-off: delayed notifications or sync may result. Change one thing at a time, then check battery usage again so you can see whether that change helped.
ColorOS feature descriptions include a battery dashboard and power-consumption notifications that can flag apps using excessive power. Availability and labels vary by model and software version; use the controls actually shown on your phone. OPPO’s ColorOS 12 features page describes these features, but it does not establish that every OPPO phone has the same controls.

Use power saving when you need more runtime
If you need additional runtime, turn on the built-in power-saving control available on your device. ColorOS 12 feature descriptions include one-tap power saving, but the precise menu and availability can differ. Check your phone’s Battery settings for the option rather than assuming a particular path applies to every model.

Record your software details before escalating
If the drain remains unusually rapid, or the phone becomes abnormally hot, contact OPPO or the seller’s support channel for guidance specific to your handset. There is no universal threshold for abnormal drain established here, so include useful observations rather than relying on a fixed percentage or time limit.

OPPO describes system-level resource scheduling in its ColorOS 14 announcement and power-management features in its ColorOS 13 announcement. Those are descriptions of product capabilities, not proof that an update causes or resolves a particular phone’s battery drain. The available official guidance does not identify one universal cause or prescribe a post-update waiting period.
