How to tell where the audio gap starts
Record what the problem looks like before changing settings. Note the time, whether it happens at a particular song or loop boundary, whether it is silence or a dropout, and whether multiple viewers hear it. These clues help narrow the investigation; none proves a cause by itself.

1. Listen to the exact source segment
Open the file used in the playlist and listen just before, during, and after the reported gap. For a repeatable pause between songs, check the end of the first file and beginning of the next; for a pause at the loop point, inspect the playlist’s final and first items. Look for unintended silence or a transition that adds a pause.

2. Inspect a local recording of the outgoing stream
If the source sounds correct, review the encoder’s local archive or recording around the affected timestamp. A gap present in the archive points toward the media, playback source, playlist ordering, or transition. If the archive is clean while viewers report a gap, focus next on encoding, YouTube’s ingest health, or delivery.
YouTube recommends checking the local archive for audio or video problems. That comparison is more useful than guessing from a viewer’s playback alone.

3. Check the encoder and its audio input
Listen to the encoder preview and confirm that the intended audio source is selected and routed. Check encoder errors and CPU load, especially if audio problems coincide with other signs of an overloaded system. YouTube advises checking source quality and CPU load and keeping third-party encoder software updated.

4. Read the specific YouTube Live Control Room warning
Open the live stream in YouTube Live Control Room and inspect its stream-health messages. Address the warning actually shown rather than changing settings based only on the sound of the symptom.
YouTube’s ingestion error guidance identifies audio configuration problems, including AAC-format and audio-stream errors. It says to use H.264 video and AAC audio for proper ingestion, and warns that missing audio or multiple audio streams can cause problems. Confirm the current requirements for your chosen ingest mode before changing configuration; do not assume settings for one mode apply to another. 5. Investigate delivery if the local output is clean
If both the encoder preview and local archive sound healthy, test the outbound internet connection and contact your internet provider if those tests indicate a connection problem. Also check Live Control Room for delivery warnings. YouTube’s LiveStream health documentation identifies insufficient incoming video and keyframes sent too infrequently as potential stream-health issues that can cause buffering. Those warnings indicate delivery trouble; they do not show that a playlist audio file is defective. Check the message itself and consult YouTube’s LiveStream health-status documentation.

If a gap returns at exactly the same track transition or loop point, inspect the source files and the playlist’s transition behavior. One community report describes an audio gap while looping with FFmpeg, but it does not establish a universal cause or a verified fix. Test any corrected source or transition in a short private or unlisted stream before changing a live 24/7 broadcast. The same caution applies if you use another playback or looping method: verify the result on a test stream rather than assuming the method is responsible.

7. If you use OBS, check buffering and dropped frames
Review OBS’s stream indicators alongside YouTube’s health messages. OBS provides a stream-buffering troubleshooting guide; use it to investigate connection or buffering symptoms, not as proof that every audio gap originates in OBS.
