For a fixed-size image, set width and height, keep full_page=false, and check scale_factor, crop, and element before changing the page itself. ApiFlash’s documented default viewport is 1920 × 1080 pixels. ApiFlash’s API documentation describes the parameters and limits.
1. Inspect the request and the returned image
Start with the exact request sent to https://api.apiflash.com/v1/urltoimage. Confirm that the target URL includes its protocol, such as https://, and that the request contains the intended width and height. ApiFlash accepts GET query parameters or POST form data.

Compare the downloaded file’s pixel dimensions with the requested dimensions. A mismatch may be intentional: full-page mode ignores the requested height, a scale factor of 2 increases bitmap dimensions, and crop or element selection narrows the capture area.

ApiFlash documents a default viewport of 1920 × 1080 pixels. Each requested dimension may range from 0 to 16,350 pixels, but the product of width and height must not exceed 33,177,600 pixels. These are documented product specifications; the documentation does not state a publication date for them.

2. Choose viewport or full-page capture

ApiFlash documents full_page as false by default, so it can be omitted for a fixed viewport. If your aim is an image with a particular height, do not enable full-page mode. If you need the entire page, expect the output height to follow the rendered content rather than the requested height. ApiFlash’s FAQ also explains this distinction.
3. Check scaling, crop, and element selection
Scale factor
scale_factor accepts 1 or 2. At 2, ApiFlash produces a higher-definition image, which has a larger file and can have more bitmap pixels than the CSS viewport dimensions. If the page layout looks right but the returned image has larger pixel dimensions, check this setting before changing the viewport.
Crop
The crop parameter selects a rectangle using left,top,width,height. Remove it to capture the viewport without that crop, or correct its coordinates and size if the crop is intentional.

Element capture
The element parameter targets the first element matching a CSS selector; URL-encode the selector when passing it in the request. This captures a specific part of the page rather than the whole viewport. ApiFlash ignores element when full_page=true, so do not rely on both settings to constrain a full-page capture.
4. Correct the request parameters
For a fixed viewport, a request should explicitly set the target URL and dimensions, disable full-page mode, and remove any unneeded crop or element selector. Adapt this example to the page and dimensions you need:

If the intended output is full-page, change full_page to true and treat height as ignored; the rendered page determines the capture height. Check that the requested width and height comply with ApiFlash’s documented per-dimension and area limits.

5. Wait for late content and bypass stale cache
ApiFlash says it normally waits until network idle. If the page’s important content appears after that point, use wait_for to wait for a specific element or add a suitable delay. ApiFlash documents a delay range of 0–10 seconds. Prefer waiting for a meaningful selector when one is available; a fixed delay can be too short on a slow load and unnecessarily long on a fast one.

6. When dimensions match but the layout does not
A correct pixel size does not guarantee an identical layout. ApiFlash says it captures pages with Chrome on Linux. A font available on your own computer may be missing or render differently in that environment, changing line breaks, element heights, and visual spacing without changing the requested viewport.

For consistent typography, serve fonts with the site rather than depending on operating-system fonts, as ApiFlash recommends in its FAQ. Also check whether the page’s responsive layout changes at the requested viewport width; that changes the arrangement of content, not necessarily the screenshot’s outer dimensions. ApiFlash describes Chrome rendering and responsive capture on its product page.
