OpenLogi lists the Logitech MX Master 4 as supported (model ID 2b042), so a missing mouse does not automatically mean it is unsupported or faulty. Start by fully quitting Logi Options+ and its background agent, confirming the mouse is on and paired to the selected Easy-Switch channel, then check OpenLogi’s Home gallery or run openlogi list. If it is still absent, test another connection route and check your operating system’s access requirements.
First identify what “not detected” means
Check whether the mouse moves the pointer in your operating system, whether it appears in OpenLogi’s device gallery, and how it is connected: receiver, Bluetooth, or USB. Pointer movement without an OpenLogi listing suggests an enumeration, HID++ access, permissions, or application-state issue; it does not identify which one is responsible.

OpenLogi’s supported-device documentation lists the MX Master 4 as model ID 2b042, with support for buttons, gestures, the thumb wheel, DPI, and Easy-Switch. The available controls can still depend on the capabilities the mouse reports. See OpenLogi’s supported-device list and its documentation.

Try these checks in order
1. Release the receiver from other software
Fully quit Logi Options+, including its background agent, before testing OpenLogi. OpenLogi says Options+ and OpenLogi contend for HID++ access and only one can own a receiver at a time. On Linux, quit Solaar as well. Reopen OpenLogi and check the Home gallery or run openlogi list. The connection guide and installation guide describe these conflicts.

- Ergonomic mouse designed for comfort, MX Master 4 keeps you in flow with a natural tilt, intuitive buttons, and a thumb scroll wheel that reduces hand stress for fluid navigation
2. Confirm power, channel, and pairing
Turn on the mouse and check the Easy-Switch channel LED. Logitech says the number 1 LED should blink quickly when the mouse is on and discoverable. If it is not blinking quickly, hold the Easy-Switch button for three seconds. A short press changes the selected channel; the three-second hold makes that channel discoverable. Pair through your computer’s Bluetooth settings or connect the included wireless USB receiver. The mouse can pair with up to three computers, according to Logitech’s setup instructions.
3. Test a different connection route
OpenLogi documents receiver, Bluetooth-direct, and wired USB connections. A receiver problem may be specific to its model or access path, so test Bluetooth-direct or USB if available. This is a diagnostic comparison, not a guaranteed fix.

| Connection | What to check | Important caveat |
|---|---|---|
| Wireless receiver | Confirm it is plugged in, the mouse is paired on the selected channel, and Options+ is fully quit. Check the gallery or run openlogi list. |
OpenLogi recognizes only receiver identifiers listed in its documentation. A receiver outside those IDs can make devices paired to it invisible to OpenLogi. See the supported-device list and connection guide. |
| Bluetooth-direct | Pair the mouse using the computer’s Bluetooth settings and select the channel you paired. | OpenLogi treats Bluetooth-direct devices separately from receiver slots; operating-system permissions may still matter. See the connection guide. |
| Wired USB | Connect the mouse by USB and check OpenLogi’s device inventory. | OpenLogi documents wired HID++ access. A wired test is an alternate route, not a promised cure. See the connection guide. |
OpenLogi’s receiver documentation distinguishes discovery and enumeration from pairing instructions, which vary by receiver type. Do not assume every receiver can pair through OpenLogi; follow the current instructions for that receiver.
4. Check operating-system access and the agent
- macOS: OpenLogi requires macOS 13 or later. In Privacy & Security settings, grant Input Monitoring to OpenLogi Agent so it can open devices. Grant Accessibility to that agent for button remapping. The packaged app runs its embedded agent as a login item. Refer to the installation guide.
- Linux: Check that OpenLogi’s udev rules give your user access to
/dev/hidraw*,/dev/uinput, and the mouse’s input event node. If the receiver was already attached when you installed the rules, unplug and reconnect it; alternatively, power-cycle the mouse so the rules apply. The installation guide says to run the installer as your normal user, not to run the entire script withsudo. - Windows: Check that the OpenLogi background agent is present and running. For a portable ZIP build, keep the GUI and agent files together. The reviewed OpenLogi installation instructions do not specify a separate Windows permissions checklist for this symptom.
If OpenLogi sees the mouse but a control is missing
A detected device with an absent or unresponsive control is different from a device that does not appear at all. Run openlogi diag features and openlogi diag controls to inspect what the mouse reports. OpenLogi says its feature table is authoritative and that feature panels depend on device-reported capabilities. Its supported-device documentation lists the MX Master 4’s supported feature categories.

If the mouse remains absent
Collect the details that distinguish a connection or access issue from an application problem:
- Your operating system and version, and the OpenLogi version.
- Whether the operating system sees the mouse and whether pointer movement works.
- The connection route: receiver, Bluetooth-direct, or wired USB.
- If using a receiver, its model or USB ID, if available.
- The output of
openlogi list.
Send those details to the OpenLogi maintainers. OpenLogi describes itself as under active development and not yet stable, and its documentation uses published release v0.8.11 as its baseline, last updated October 3, 2026. Check the current supported-device list and installation guidance for changes. The reviewed documentation does not establish a universal reinstall, firmware-update, or factory-reset procedure for this detection problem.
