If Amazon will not load in Chrome, first reload the page and see whether other websites work. If Amazon alone is affected, open it in an Incognito window; if it works there, check extensions and saved site data in your regular profile. The symptom by itself does not establish whether the cause is Chrome, your network, or Amazon.
Start by checking what is failing
- Check the address and reload. Make sure you have the intended Amazon URL, then reload the page.
- Open another familiar website. If several sites fail, focus first on the internet connection or network. If other sites load and only Amazon fails, continue with Chrome-specific checks.
Chrome lists network, browser, device and website conditions—including maintenance or downtime—as possible causes of loading errors. A failure to load does not, by itself, identify which one applies. Google’s Chrome connection and loading guidance recommends checking the connection and trying the page in Incognito.

Use Incognito to check the regular Chrome profile
Open a new Incognito window from Chrome’s three-dot menu and try Amazon there. If Amazon works in Incognito but not in your usual window, that is a clue that something in the regular profile—such as an extension or saved browsing data—may be involved. It does not prove which item is responsible.
Check extensions one at a time
- In the regular Chrome window, open More (three dots) > Extensions > Manage extensions.
- Turn off extensions, then reload Amazon.
- If the page now works, switch extensions back on one at a time, reloading between changes, to identify whether one affects the page.
If an extension’s access to websites is relevant, review its site permissions on the extension details page. Use only extensions you trust. Google provides the controls in its guide to installing and managing Chrome extensions.

Clear relevant cookies or cached data if needed
Cookies and cached files can contribute to loading or formatting problems. In Chrome, open More (three dots) > Delete browsing data, choose a time range, and select the relevant data types. Where the available controls allow, limit deletion to the data you need to remove rather than clearing everything.
Deleting cookies can sign you out of websites. Clearing cached content can also make pages seem slower at first because the browser has to download some content again. See Google’s instructions for clearing cache and cookies.

Use Chrome’s error message to choose the next check
If Amazon still fails, note the exact error code shown in Chrome. Different messages point toward different kinds of connection or loading problems; they are clues, not proof of a particular cause.

- ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED: Chrome could not resolve the hostname. This points to a hostname-resolution problem.
- ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT: The connection took too long to complete.
- ERR_CONNECTION_RESET: The connection was disrupted. Chrome lists possible factors such as an outdated browser, VPN, or security software.
Chrome also documents errors involving changed networks, refused connections, empty responses, cache, and redirects. Follow the message that matches your screen rather than applying every network fix indiscriminately. Google’s common Chrome error-message guide explains these codes and includes cookie-related redirect troubleshooting.

Try later-stage browser checks only when they fit
If Chrome crashes or appears low on memory
Close unnecessary tabs and apps, then try loading Amazon again. Chrome lists memory use and device or software issues among possible contributors to loading failures.
If Chrome settings may have been changed
Resetting Chrome is a later option, not the first fix to try. Open More (three dots) > Settings > Reset settings > Restore settings to their original defaults, then confirm. Google says bookmarks and passwords are not deleted, but settings such as extensions and cookies or site data change. Review Google’s Chrome reset guidance before proceeding.

What the checks can—and cannot—tell you
If multiple websites fail, investigate the connection; if Amazon fails only in the regular profile, investigate extensions and saved browsing data; if Chrome displays an error code, use it to narrow the type of problem. These checks help distinguish likely areas to investigate, but the available Chrome guidance does not establish whether Amazon is currently experiencing an outage or whether a specific Amazon-only defect is involved.
