Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsIf your Basilisk V4 makes a clean, immediate half-turn when you press a mouse button, check the button assignment for Razer’s Perfect 180 feature in Synapse. Perfect 180 is an intentional command that performs an instant 180-degree turn; it is not the same as a dirty sensor or a bad rotation-calibration setting. Remove or remap that assignment in the active Synapse profile, then repeat the test in the game.
If the view jumps unpredictably without a button press, use the separate tracking checks—firmware, sensor cleaning and surface calibration—instead. The symptom, timing and consistency tell you which branch to follow.

First, identify which problem you have
Watch what happens while the game is running and note whether the turn follows a deliberate input. A mapped command normally produces a consistent, immediate half-turn. Tracking trouble is more likely to produce an irregular jump, stutter or loss of movement, often without any button being pressed.
| What you observe | Most useful first check | Why |
|---|---|---|
| A precise 180-degree turn immediately after clicking a mouse button | Inspect the active Synapse profile and the button assigned to Perfect 180 | Perfect 180 is designed to issue an instant half-turn from a mapped control. |
| The turn happens only after a particular game launches | Check that game’s Synapse smart profile and its button layout | Synapse can switch layouts automatically when a linked game starts. |
| Unpredictable jumps, skipping or erratic cursor movement without a click | Update firmware, clean the sensor and run surface calibration | Those are Razer’s general tracking checks; they address sensor output, not a deliberately mapped turn. |
| A steady directional offset during ordinary swipes | Review Mouse Rotation Calibration | Rotation calibration changes the angle of normal sensor movement. It does not disable a button-triggered 180-degree command. |
This distinction matters because changing calibration will not remove a Perfect 180 assignment, while remapping a button will not repair a sensor that is skipping.

What Perfect 180 does on the Basilisk V4
Razer documents Perfect 180 on the Basilisk V4 family as an intentional gaming feature. Razer’s product explanation says: “Perfect 180 lets you perform an instant 180-degree turn while gaming at low sensitivity—ideal for competitive FPS play and low sensitivity gamers.” The command is enabled by assigning it to a control in Razer Synapse.
Razer also says the behavior depends on your in-game sensitivity and Synapse’s total count setting. Consequently, two players can perceive a different amount or feel from the same feature if their game sensitivity or count value differs. A clean half-turn after a click is still the key clue that a mapped action is involved.
The feature is described for Basilisk V4 models, including the Basilisk V4 HyperSpeed and the Basilisk V4 Pro announced by Razer on October 8, 2026. The product announcement also identifies Synapse as the place where Perfect 180 is enabled and describes smart profiles that can change layouts when a linked game opens.
See the manufacturer’s current description on the Basilisk V4 HyperSpeed product page and the launch details in Razer’s Basilisk V4 line announcement.
Remove the accidental assignment in Synapse
Razer’s public product text confirms the function and that it is mapped to a control, but it does not publish a stable, click-by-click menu path for every current Synapse release or confirm a separate global “off” switch for both V4 variants. Synapse labels can change, and the V4 Pro and V4 HyperSpeed may not expose identical options. Use the following goal-oriented procedure rather than relying on an old screenshot.

- Open Razer Synapse and select the Basilisk V4. Confirm that Synapse recognises the actual mouse model you are using. If more than one Basilisk or profile is present, select the device that is producing the turn.
- Open the mouse’s button-customisation or assignments view. Look for the page where each physical button, paddle or other control has an action attached. The exact tab name can vary by Synapse version.
- Inspect every control that could be pressed during play. Check the primary and secondary buttons, side buttons, the clutch or paddle, and any button you may hit while repositioning your hand. Look specifically for an action labelled Perfect 180 or an equivalent 180-degree-turn entry.
- Remove or change that action. Set the control to an unassigned state, its original mouse-button function, or another command you intentionally use. Do not change sensitivity or rotation calibration as a substitute; those settings do not remove the mapped action.
- Save or apply the layout if Synapse presents an explicit confirmation. Some versions apply changes immediately; others show an Apply, Save or similar control. Verify that the new assignment is visible after leaving and returning to the device page.
- Test in a safe area of the game. Press the formerly troublesome button several times while standing still or looking at a fixed landmark. The immediate half-turn should no longer occur. Test ordinary camera movement separately so you do not mistake a remaining sensor problem for the removed command.
If you cannot find Perfect 180 in the active layout, do not assume it is absent. Continue with profile checks before changing hardware or reinstalling software.
Check game-linked and alternate profiles
Synapse supports button mappings and smart profiles. A game can automatically activate a different layout when its executable launches, so the assignment you see in a general desktop profile may not be the one used in the match.

Verify the profile that is actually active
- Launch the affected game and keep it running.
- Switch to Synapse and identify the profile shown as active for that game or application.
- Open that profile’s button assignments and repeat the Perfect 180 search.
- Compare it with the desktop or default profile. Remove the command from every profile in which you do not want it, or deliberately keep it only in a profile where you use the feature.
- Return to the game and confirm that the expected profile remains active after a restart.
This profile check is particularly important when the turn occurs in one title but not on the desktop, in a browser, or in another game. It is also worth checking if a recent game installation, profile import or Synapse update changed the active layout.
Look for duplicate or indirect bindings
A control can be assigned through more than one layer, such as a primary button, a shifted function, or a profile-specific layer. Inspect controls that share a modifier or clutch function. If the turn follows a click only while a modifier is held, the Perfect 180 entry may be attached to that combination rather than to the visible base button.
Test whether the command is gone
Use a repeatable test rather than relying on one lucky movement:

- Face a distinct in-game object or wall seam.
- Press the suspected button without moving the mouse.
- Repeat at least five times in the same profile.
- Try the same button in a second profile or outside the game.
- Record whether each event is an exact half-turn, an ordinary click, or an irregular jump.
When Perfect 180 has been removed from the active profile, pressing that button should no longer rotate the view by a consistent 180 degrees. A small amount of ordinary camera movement from hand motion is not evidence that the command remains assigned.

A jump that occurs without a button press, varies in angle, or is accompanied by skipping is a different troubleshooting branch. Razer’s general mouse-tracking guidance recommends checking firmware, cleaning the sensor and using surface calibration. Those checks are appropriate for unstable tracking, but the guidance does not establish that a sensor fault creates an exact, repeatable 180-degree turn.
Check firmware and Synapse recognition
Confirm that Synapse sees the correct Basilisk V4 model and that its firmware is current according to Razer’s support instructions for your device. If an updater is offered, connect the mouse in the mode and connection state required by that updater, complete the update, and restart Synapse before retesting. Avoid interrupting a firmware update or switching connection modes during the update process.
Clean the sensor safely
Disconnect or switch off the mouse before cleaning. Use a gentle, dry method to remove dust from the sensor opening and the surrounding shell; do not flood the opening with liquid. Allow any surface or mouse-cleaning product to dry fully before reconnecting. Test on a clean, opaque mouse surface rather than on glass, a highly reflective desk or a surface with deep texture.
Run surface calibration
Use Synapse’s surface-calibration option if your installation provides it, then retest with the mouse on the surface you actually use. Calibration can improve tracking consistency when the sensor and surface are poorly matched. It will not change a Perfect 180 button assignment, so return to the mapping branch if the movement remains a precise half-turn after a click.

Compare wired, wireless and another computer when available
If your model and setup support more than one connection mode, test the same profile and game in the alternate mode. A problem that follows the physical mouse across modes points toward the device, assignment or firmware. A problem that appears only in one operating-system installation or Synapse profile points toward software configuration. This comparison is diagnostic; it does not prove that a particular component has failed.
Do not use Mouse Rotation Calibration to disable Perfect 180
Razer’s Mouse Rotation Calibration tool measures whether your natural side-to-side swipes are truly horizontal and provides an angle offset for Synapse’s Advanced tab. It is intended to correct the angle of ordinary sensor output when your hand naturally tracks slightly diagonally.
A rotation offset can make a normal swipe feel more level or more comfortable, but it does not remove an action assigned to a button. If the view spins exactly halfway around as soon as you click, leave rotation calibration unchanged until you have inspected the button mapping. Use the tool only when the symptom is a consistent angular bias during unbroken swipes.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Account for sensitivity and total count
Perfect 180’s result is not independent of game settings. Razer states that its behavior depends on in-game sensitivity and Synapse’s total count setting. If you are testing after changing either value, document the values so that you can compare like with like.
- Do not diagnose the feature by moving the mouse a fixed physical distance; the feature is a command, not a measured swipe.
- Test with the same in-game sensitivity used when the problem occurs.
- If you intentionally keep Perfect 180 for another profile, record that profile’s total count and sensitivity so you can reproduce its behavior.
- Changing those values may change how the turn feels, but it is not the reliable way to stop an unwanted activation. Removing or remapping the assignment is.
Model and software qualifications
The documented feature applies to the Basilisk V4 family, but the available official descriptions do not establish that every Synapse screen, option name or global disable control is identical on the V4 Pro and V4 HyperSpeed. Identify the exact model printed in Synapse or on the mouse before following model-specific support instructions.

If a guide or video shows a menu that you do not have, do not create a new profile blindly or alter unrelated sensor settings. Use the labels in your installed Synapse version, search its assignment list for Perfect 180, and contact Razer when the assignment cannot be located.
When the assignment is not visible
Escalate after you have checked the active game profile, desktop profile and any alternate layer, and after you have established whether the event requires a button press. Provide support with enough detail to reproduce the issue:
- The exact Basilisk V4 variant: V4 Pro or V4 HyperSpeed.
- Your Synapse version and operating-system version.
- The game and, if relevant, its executable or linked smart-profile entry.
- Connection mode and whether the behavior changes when you switch modes.
- The button or combination that appears to trigger the turn.
- Whether the turn is a consistent 180 degrees or an unpredictable jump.
- Whether it occurs outside the game and in a second profile.
- Firmware status, sensor-cleaning result and surface-calibration result.
Include a short video showing the button press and the resulting view change if your support channel accepts attachments. This separates a mapped command from tracking noise more quickly than a description such as “the mouse spins.” Razer’s current support route for general mouse tracking checks is How to resolve Razer mouse tracking issues.

- Does the turn happen immediately after a particular click? Inspect that control for Perfect 180.
- Does it happen only in one game? Check the game-linked smart profile.
- Is it a consistent half-turn? Treat it as a mapped command before investigating the sensor.
- Does it occur without button input and vary in angle? Follow firmware, cleaning and surface-calibration checks.
- Is the problem a steady diagonal bias during normal swipes? Consider Mouse Rotation Calibration, not Perfect 180.
- Can you not find the assignment in any active profile? Record the model, Synapse version, game, connection mode and trigger pattern, then contact Razer support.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I fix an accidental Basilisk V4 180 by lowering DPI?
No. DPI and game sensitivity can affect how the feature feels, but an unwanted Perfect 180 activation is corrected by removing or remapping its Synapse assignment in the active profile.
Why does the turn happen only when a game is open?
Synapse smart profiles can switch button layouts when a linked game launches. Inspect the profile that is active while the game is running, not only the desktop profile.
Will Mouse Rotation Calibration stop the half-turn?
No. Rotation Calibration adjusts the angle of ordinary sensor swipes. A clean half-turn after a click points to a mapped Perfect 180 action instead.
