First identify where the blank result occurs: Zapier may not be receiving the webhook at all, the screenshot action may be returning an empty or unexpected response, or the returned image may show a page captured before its content rendered. Check the failing step and its raw output before changing screenshot settings; each symptom has a different fix.
Find the first failing step
Open the Zap’s run history (Zap History or Task History) and inspect the relevant run. If there is no run, test the trigger in the editor. If the trigger fired, check whether the screenshot action ran and what it returned. This separates delivery, response-format, and page-rendering problems.

If Zapier never receives the webhook
Verify the URL, method, and timing
Compare the webhook URL configured in the sending app with the URL shown in the Zap. Confirm the trigger type matches the request method: Zapier documents Catch Hook or Catch Raw Hook for POST requests and Retrieve Poll for GET requests. After correcting a mismatch, send a fresh event and retest immediately; Zapier notes that instant triggers should be tested soon after the event is sent.

Check whether a valid request arrives
If delivery is uncertain, send a valid test request or temporarily point the sender to a request-inspection service. If the request appears there, the sender delivered it, so investigate payload compatibility or Zapier-side processing. If it does not, check the sender’s configuration and delivery. Do not publish a live secret webhook URL in an article, ticket, or support post.
A successful HTTP response alone does not prove that Zapier received a usable trigger sample. Zapier says the request cannot be completely blank for trigger testing and lists valid XML, JSON, or URL-encoded payloads as acceptable formats. Use Zapier’s incoming-webhook troubleshooting steps to check the request and retest.

If the screenshot action ran but its output is wrong
Inspect the raw response before changing the page
Determine whether the action returned image bytes, a URL to an image, structured JSON, an error, or an empty body. Those are different outcomes: for example, an image URL or JSON response may need to be mapped or handled differently from a direct image response. Use Zapier’s raw-response diagnostics where available, then compare the result with the format expected by the next Zap step.
Match the request to the screenshot provider
Check the action’s destination URL, HTTP method, query parameters, body, headers, authentication, and expected response type against the documentation for the screenshot service you actually use. Zapier supports GET, POST, PUT, and Custom Request. Custom Request data is sent as entered, without parsing or formatting, so validate JSON or XML yourself before sending it.

Zapier’s webhook-action documentation, updated August 10, 2026, states a maximum action payload of 5 MB. This is a Zapier action limit, not a universal limit on screenshot services or image files. If a returned image or payload exceeds that limit, use the provider’s supported response or storage method rather than assuming the screenshot service shares Zapier’s limit. Zapier’s webhook action guide documents the methods and payload constraint.
If the image exists but the website content is blank
Wait for JavaScript-rendered content
Many pages fill in their visible content after the initial HTML loads. A screenshot taken too early can therefore contain a blank shell or incomplete content. Cloudflare’s Browser Run screenshot guide warns that default page-load behavior can produce empty or incomplete results on JavaScript-heavy pages and single-page applications. It recommends waiting for network idle or for a known page selector to appear.

In your screenshot provider, look for a documented equivalent: a wait-until condition, a selector wait, or another explicit signal that the content you need is ready. Prefer a selector that appears only after the relevant content has rendered, or a documented network-idle condition, over an arbitrary long delay. Provider options and parameter names vary; use that provider’s documentation rather than copying Cloudflare-specific settings. Cloudflare lists wait-until, selector-wait, and timeout controls in its Browser Run documentation and screenshot API reference.

Check access to the target page
Confirm the URL can be reached from the screenshot service and does not depend on a login, cookie, or private network access that the capture request does not provide. If the page is protected, supply only the authentication or session details supported by your provider and appropriate for your security requirements. An inaccessible page is a possibility to check, not a diagnosis that applies to every blank screenshot.

A practical retest sequence
- In Zap History or Task History, identify the first step that failed or produced an unexpected result.
- If the trigger did not fire, compare the sender’s webhook URL and HTTP method with the Zap trigger, then send a fresh, non-empty valid payload.
- If the screenshot action ran, inspect its raw response and compare the request fields and expected response format with the screenshot provider’s documentation.
- If the response is an image but the page content is missing, add a provider-supported wait condition tied to rendered content, such as a known selector or network idle.
- Run the Zap again and inspect the new run’s trigger sample, action response, and resulting image. Change one relevant setting at a time so the failing stage remains clear.

- Changing the page wait when no trigger arrived: page-rendering options cannot fix webhook delivery. Start with the trigger and sender.
- Treating every empty output as a blank screenshot: inspect whether the action returned an image, a URL, JSON, an error, or no body.
- Assuming a 200 response means the Zap received usable data: verify that Zapier captured a valid, non-empty payload sample.
- Copying another provider’s parameter names: wait controls and request formats differ. Follow the documentation for the provider configured in your Zap.
- Adding a long delay without checking readiness: an explicit selector or documented navigation condition better establishes that the needed content is present.
There is no established frequency figure for how often Zapier screenshot workflows return blank images in the cited official guidance, and the title alone does not reveal the provider, failing step, status code, or response body. Diagnose those details in the specific run rather than assuming a universal cause.
