Why a Broadcom printer driver is unlikely to be the right fix
Broadcom’s official downloads cover its semiconductor products and related support; its portal routes VMware downloads through a customer support portal. The Broadcom pages reviewed do not establish a Broadcom printer or printer-driver download. Printer drivers are selected for the printer’s own brand and model. Before searching, find the model name or number on the printer or its label. Also note how it connects—USB or wireless—and your Windows edition, version and system type. A driver intended for a different Windows version or device can cause compatibility problems.
Try these fixes in order
1. Check the printer connection
- For a USB printer, check that the cable is firmly connected to both the printer and computer.
- For a wireless printer, check that it is connected to the network and available to the computer.
- Turn the printer off and back on, then try printing again.
These basic checks are part of Microsoft’s guidance for printer connection and printing problems.

2. Update through Windows
Use Windows Update first to look for a suitable printer driver. Microsoft recommends this route for getting the latest printer drivers. You can also use Windows’ printer management or update flow to check for a driver. The exact screens can vary with Windows version and configuration; follow Microsoft’s current download and installation instructions.
If Windows Update does not find a suitable driver, go to the printer manufacturer’s official support site and search by the exact model. Confirm that the offered driver supports your Windows version and system type before installing it. Microsoft explains that mismatched versions can contribute to printer driver compatibility issues.

3. Remove and add the printer again
If updating does not resolve the problem, remove the printer from Windows and add it again. Reinstalling can prompt Windows Update to obtain a driver. Use Microsoft’s current steps for reinstalling and updating printer drivers.

For a local printer, Microsoft also describes manually adding it on its existing port and choosing the manufacturer and model from the Windows printer list. Use that option when automatic detection does not add the printer, and select the exact model where available.

4. Clear the queue only when printing is stuck
If documents remain stuck in the print queue, the issue may be the queue rather than the driver. Microsoft’s troubleshooting instructions include stopping the Print Spooler service, clearing its spool files and restarting the service. Follow the steps on its printer troubleshooting page; do not treat clearing the queue as a driver download or compatibility fix.

Microsoft states that Windows 10 support ended on October 14, 2025. Its notice says: “After October 14, 2025, Microsoft will no longer provide free software updates from Windows Update, technical assistance, or security fixes for Windows 10.” This affects the support available for an existing Windows 10 installation; it does not identify which driver your printer needs. Check Microsoft’s printer troubleshooting notice and driver guidance for current details.
